In Adelaide he stopped chasing a ball because he thought it was going out. It stayed in. His oppenent didn't stop and got the ball.

Is that a sign?

Yes they will and then it will be up to Jack to work through the tag just like any decent midfielder has to in just about every game of their life.

It shouldn't be a reason to preclude applying the pressure to Dal.

Exactly. Then hopefully when the next star mids come through we can have a senior mid who can take a tag and still influence the game.

Dal led the team in clearances and was behind only Steven in contested ball. It wasn't his best game by a long shot, but he wasn't any more tagged out of it than the rest of the St Kilda midfield. What was their excuse again? Give that we were -17 at the clearances and -25 in contested ball I'm at a loss to understand why Dal should pay the price?

He logs more minutes than our other mids, never misses a game, wins more contested footy than anybody for over a decade and his supporters still reflexively blame him for every loss.

Not 'reflexively' blaming him for any loss, last week or prior. It's a considered post based on his performances in 2013 collectively. Dropping him has worked in the past when his output was sub-standard, I think it's worth considering.

The bigger problem is more like Armitage going to another level. Dal Santo has been consistent for 8-9 years. Has played close to 250 games.. Its about time the younger brigade stand up.

Never write off champion players. He will get it back together and make you look foolish.

aaargh dont make me angry
here is the problem with NDS, montagna, Ross, Steven(although he plays tough he just has a little body)
they need to toughen up - and yes i did exclude Armitage from that list he loves the in close body work

I challenge every one of you that pole-axed Jones(on griffen) after the the dogs game
go back and watch clint vs griffen
the dogs on-ballers checked, blocked, & dropped jones more than our whole team did on the night.
people whinge about how NDS goes out of the game with a tag, he needs to run more to break it, he needs to work his opponent to the off side of play, and he might just need a little bit of help from team mates - but when all is said and done - we need to get stronger at contested possessions
