Looks like it's our turn for the heat this week. Problem is,the next 2-3 years are going to be worse. Lyon threw the baby out with the bath water chasing that flag, now we're farked well and truly until the next successful rebuild

This is a low point, no doubt about it. Feeling very deflated and not particularly optimistic when we can barely get a clearance, and when we do we can't hit a target.

Really shows where we are at, and missing armo and lenny doesn't help

Nice goal by Ray!fugazi wrote:St. Luke wrote:It's official, we're crap. Season over.
Yep...highlight of the year....beating Carlton!
I was glad we beat Carlton. But we should have thrashed the Doggies
When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

It baffles me when I hear talk about bigboy being the next captain. Probably the worst tap ruckman in the league. He is a confidence booster for opposition ruckman. If you are after a quick hit and run in trade come finals in fantasy footy, just see who we are playing and trade in there ruckman

Well that sums it all up - roo takes a great very brave mark, gets knocked out with an elbow after marking, the ball falls into the opponents arms, and the ump gives the bewildered opponent the mark!

Thrashed in the clearances and stoppages, that stuff wins games and the Dogs beat us on the back of it tonight. Credit to them they pegged us back after we got to leads a couple of times but jesus is there a limit on chase and tackle in our side. Hickey is a complete witches hat at times and hes not the only one.

Sooooo where does this leave us? Seriously we are a lot worse than i imagined.
Might be a good thing? Seriously bottom out this season draft quality and trade aggressively to get on the spring board back??

running back with the flight
totally accidental
nothing in it
coped either an arm or shoulder on the chin and hit the deck
didnt know what week.
and yeah i thought he marked it but all of a sudden he was flat on his back and the dogs player had actually taken the mark

Roo takes the mark then gets KO'd, play on apparently. Definitely not a report, definitely a mark.

Saad showing no heart? Had a game high 9 tackles.
9 more than Dal Santo and 8 more than Milne.

Not a tap ruckman and I doubt he ever will be. He's had one good game this year though having said that ,it is one more than Maister. Lee has to come in to the side now.jonesy wrote:It baffles me when I hear talk about bigboy being the next captain. Probably the worst tap ruckman in the league. Re: Match day thread saints v dogs
Bottom four for sure now. I expected floggings at time with injection of youth but the losses to Dogs and Gold Coast now shows our true standing. Several gallant losses earlier on don't help the cause if we cant beat similar graded opposition expected to contest in the 8.Griggsy wrote:Really shows where we are at, and missing armo and lenny doesn't help
Losses of key players hurts but this just shows our bench strength and lack of depth. Scott's on the right track developing the kids. They have tired many times in games this year and I only expect this aspect to worsen unless we rotate these guys regularly.
Our midfield structure and kicking remains our key issues. Yes we butcher the ball and our forwards struggle at times but we seem to rely a lot on rebound footy for goals and have very little scoreboard pressure from clearances , ball protection and delivery. We will lose our respect against other sides if this continues and will be seen as easy beats. This does nothing for confidence and exuberamce from our younger brigade.
Really sad to lose from being run down again, this time by another side with plenty of youth. Hope that the team selected is fit and healthy. If not, that would be criminal. Only best form makes the side in my book. I am sure Scott feels the same way so this makes it worse for me losing this particular game.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
