Visit to the island of St Kilda

Post: # 1336782Post Gershwin »

During the week of 8th July I will be going on a boat trip to the Island of St Kilda off the Scottish coast. I will be wearing my St Kilda scarf and carry a small wooden box which I intend to bury in the sand. The box will contain the 2013 bumper sticker, fridge magnet and a message to Saint Kilda.

The draft of the message is below and I would appreciate any comment.

'Oh mighty Saint Kilda,
I stand on your island as a devoted representative of your followers in Australia - a land down-under,
We worship you every weekend and chant your name 'St Kilda ... St Kilda'
We fight your enemies and try to remove their heads (go Kossie!) and we violate their women (no. 44 & the ex. Bomber)
We seek your help in this a season of great challenge,
Provide our warriors with soundness of hamstring (and calf and tendon and ligament) , and fleetness of foot,
Provide our coaches with wisdom - particularly our forward-line coach who needs it desperately,
Provide us with a tall defender, creative mid-fielder and damaging forward in the next draft,
Provide us with a major sponsor with lots of money (Bill Gates would be nice),

Oh mighty Saint Kilda we have endured many years of struggle and seek the ultimate prize sooner rather than later (I'm 60 myself!)

yours truly etc etc etc'

Suggestion
leave out the referances to current and recent past 'saga's'

and instead provide the reasons we worship- Barker Harvey Rieowldt Doc, J eans etc...
players and coaches coming and going

and still survival as with the craggy rugged cliffs of the Isle of Hirta.

highly amusing but "violate their women"??? really? tad strong?

Violate their women? Really?

And it's not Saint Kilda.

fair enough - will remove reference to violating women. Neither politically correct nor proven in a court of law.

There may not be a Saint called Kilda but if we don't have some faith what do we have?

There is suggestions that there was no Saint Kilda rather some Viking name like Sankkillder. Mis-spelt so vikings would approve of your conquering.

Maybe we should be renamed the Vikings. Absolutely nothing to do with Saints

"The name St. Kilda comes from the old Norse ‘skildir’ meaning shields."

http://comestepbackintime.wordpress.com ... t-islands/

"The origins are thought to be cartographers' errors, naming the island Skildir (Viking Norse) Skildar, Skilda, S. Kilda and then St Kilda over a number of maps.

Write whatever you want mate. No oe's every gonna read it.
Personally I'd be asking for Miranda Kerr to mistakenly wander naked into my bed one night.
Hopefully when the wife is away.

You are writing about the improbable

nah, boring as batshyte bratty....where is your sense of "fun"

I think there should also be a reference to scumbag Lyon who helped create our current mess.

Don't forget your sea sickness tablets for the boat trip Gershwin!

Maybe 'saintspremiers' is correct............... something about the Devil incarnate.... Lyon...... could be included.

Enjoy the experience.

Be warned Gershwin as from all of the docos I've seen, the seas can get quite rough out there and the way the tides flow you may no have much time on the actual island.

Whatever prayer or offer you make, include a sunset clause that success has to come to us within the next 3 years as I and many others are tired of waiting.

So if I ask a piece of rock for something sort of possible rather than improbable the rock is more likely to grant my wishes?

It took the Vatican 18 years to excommunicate a kiddie-fiddling priest, so it might take a little more time.

and we violate their women (no. 44 & the ex. Bomber) - really I can't believe a Saint Supporter would even say that.
