Roberton??????
Could he be a midfielder? He is very good below his knees, one grab pick up off the ground. Baulks well, and reads the play well. Seems to have good endurance. And appears to have time and composure to think his way through situations.
Thoughts???

Re: Roberton??????
Nope he's Gilbo's replacement IMO... He seems to be Gilbo with a good kick and decision making...paddy wrote:could be a worth a crack once gilbo comes back in....
Our backline settled should be
Wright Stanley/Simpkin Gwilt
Roberton Fisher Dempster
Without Roberton in that backline this year, some games could have well and truly been a blowout...

Re: Roberton??????
Anything is worth a try. May not work but try it for a quarter maybe against Footscray when we are ten goals up at 3/4 time

Re: Roberton??????
It seems a natural progression. Serve your apprenticeship in defence, then become a midfielder. He's quick, clean hands and disposal on both sides and reads the game well. Recruit of the year, so far.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Something for the coaches to mull over. Do they rob Peter to pay Paul?
Where can he be most value?
Seems to be focusf and confident, is he the heir apparent to Chips?
190 cm so not really a KPP, but I have marvelled at his marks running back in front of a pack.

Re: Roberton??????
Goddard was a backman who could easily rotate through the midfield. Roberton & Wright could be similar.
Geelong players are demonstrating great flexability.

Re: Roberton??????
Wright should play in the midfield eventually. He's not just a hard at it half-back type. He's quick and he played with genuine flair as a junior. He hasn't shown what he can really do yet. Can kick amazing goals, take big marks, ectSainterK wrote:I like Robbo in the backline....he and Wright will be our running backs of the future

HBF who is cool under pressure with good disposal is gold and sets up so much
Leave him there and concentrate on finding genuine miss FFS

EXACTLY! Gilbert is a rubbish kick and makes Raph-like decisions. I know plenty on here love him for his dash but FFS - why have dash when you (a) kick it out on the full continually (b) regularly kick it back to the opposition or (c) bust out of defence and kick it over Roo's head or at his boot laces?
Roberton thus far has shown elite kicking to a safe target on both sides of his body. I'd love to know his kicking efficiency.
Go you red, black & white warriors
