When did a team last win with so few forward 50 entries?

To top it off, Carlscum had 10 more entries than us.

We won for 2 main reasons:

(1) Carlton's lack of rotations being 2 down early.

(2) Our very solid defence - helps having Gwilt, Fisher, Dempster & Stanley all in the same side together!

I liked the way we started to accelerate despite being reeled in. Under Ross we would have locked down but Saad and others were still taking the game on. It reminded me of Collingwood in the 2010 GF1. He definitely has a fortune favours the brave attitude Scotty.

A significant number of Carlton's inside 50's ended up in McEvoy's hands. They played stupid footy and kicking along the boundary (the Malthouse gameplan) gave us time to get numbers back.

We used the rebound incredibly well, and our hand passing off half back opened up space going forward. When Rooey is leading into space and takes 13, the quality of our entries is going to be good.

When we play our best "Watters-style" football, we are very efficient going forward.

we dominated possession but our lack of composure at certain times led to silly turnovers .
This usually happens with young sides !

although milney had 3 howlers !

We did lack a second target on the forward line , Hickey and sipposs had Ok games but as marking forwards did little !

Thought we put really good pressure on them so they had to bomb it in which played into our hands, Big Ben had a field day. They also didn't have much up fwd , till Henderson took a few marks. So glad the guys hung on for the win, especially with so many youngsters in the team.

Saad only got the ball because we had run out of options chipping it around the back line and someone eventually kicked it long. Great footy by Saad but hardly a sign of the team taking the game on.
