Interesting comparison,

M Kruzer pick 1 2007 draft,

B McEvoy pick 9 2007 draft

At the time I was drooling at the potential of Kruzer and could only dream of having the best ruck man in the comp, especially with our lack of at the time.
Who's dreaming now! Well done big boy you are a beast!

Yeah he shyts on Kruezer.

Pretty much in all areas.

Except in actual ruckwork where neither of them are dominant. McEvoy gets injured less and so is much better around the ground.

Mate that was one of the most sublime games I have seen from a ruckman in a long time. Him and Jack gave us a lot to drool about tonight.

How many goals do you reckon he saved floating across half back? Having Hickey in allows him to do that and he's fantastic at it. Just reads the play so well.

He floated across HB when he was rucking except in the final 5 minutes when he went as the spare man. hwe played it exactly as a good ruckman should.

Yep, having another genuine ruckman in the team allows him to do that. Otherwise he'd be too stuffed.

Well thats why Hickey should play ahead of Kosi. hopefully the coach sees that as well.

He got beaten in the taps, but was always contesting. Work around the ground was great though. Thought Hickey did pretty well, particularly when it got hot towards the end. Saw him do some good stuff.

He's come a long way. Even in that first match in which he unforgettably tried to mark the ball with his head, I really thought he showed something. He's not great in the rucks, but he always makes a contest if it. And he's getting better over time.

Around the ground he's sublime.

Most impressed with his low desperate bump in the back pocket, and the mark running back with the flight. He went in hard tonight. Very slow, but huge tank.

The owl used to give Kreuzer plenty of competition in the u/18's. Plenty of good judges at the time rated Ben as the better ruck man. The attraction with Kreuzer was that he was going to develop into a top class KP forward, similar to "sticks" Kernhan. Injuries have held him back, but ATM if I had to choose between them, I'd go with Ben.

If he could win the ruck most games he'd be close to the best ruck man going.

I saw the Carlton ruckman running away from him. I should've said slow at times, just does a lot of running.

Macca well ahead in the battle at the moment. Amazing improvement since 2010. Gun ruckman

Not meaning to take anything away from Ben's game but what was with the Carlton coaches

did nyone even man up on mcEvoy in the 1st 3/4s

he absolutely cut them up across the backline all night...

you note they paid him more respect in the final 1/4

He continues to grow in stature.

Around the ground he is awesome.
Can still improve in the ruck though.

But admire his effort and durability.

A little slow but has the endurance to run all day, which is why at times the saints only use 1 ruckman

Looks slow, but not sure he is. Those long legs cover about two normal players stride

Well he looked a hell of a lot better with some support. Was able to dominate behind the ball for three quarters and Hickey helped save the day by sharing the load in the last. The beginnings of a more than useful ruck combination and hopefully we'll see a lot more of them in tandem over the next10 years.

Has to be one of the best one grab marks in the comp.

he was fantastic and agree this bump was great - virtually a mtch saver and dazed the carlton bloke ---- at which the complete imbecile BT started muttering about some fictional piece of play earlier in the match that was a free ( against an action like big bens) - BT should get of the crack or stop commentating
