Re: How will he handle it?
like this:
'Look, all sides are constantly reviewing and improving their lists - we're no different and over the last 18 months have been very active in this area. End of this year we will have more cap space and for the first time in a long time we'll be in a position to be really aggressive in this area...." blah blah blah
I should write scripts at press conferences....

Re: How will he handle it?
I;m curious as to why he has taken Nick's spot
last year it was around the time we were losing as well.. and there was some issue that maybe He wanted to address
I wonder if this year it may be mroe to take issue with someone? or just to present the strongest defence of the team...

Spot on Teflon. You could write it.
He might also thrown in:
"We go out every week and try to win. Its as simple as that. Its a brutal competition and every club tries to get the balance right for developing for the future. But we are always trying to get better in everything we do and part of that is giving young players game time" blah blah blah
On the issue of tv appearances in general - i think the smaller clubs need a strong advocate/president. Someone should be out there publicly squealing about swans/bombers/bigger clubs cheating.

Re: How will he handle it?
How about this question:
The Saints marched up the ladder from 2001 to 2010. You are now leading them down the ladder. What is your plan?

Re: How will he handle it?
We've got a lot of great young leaders with potential to bring us back up the ladder ?

"I dont think ultimately where we sit on the ladder dictates success....its how we compete week to week that will dictate ultimate success and that is an area we as a club wont shy away from. Sure, there'll be times when younger players will wear greater expectation and pressure but that effort, desire to compete is still non-negotiable......Saints fans arent stupid...( ), they know right now that results isn't the only focus and they ought to be excited by what's coming through and feel confident that the process we've put in place is the best one for that development to occur......................"
or Ross Lyon approach.
"yeah, nah...hard work".
or Mark Neeld
"Only 1 way out of this....." (journo asks - "whats that Mark" .....insert complete dumbstruck look)..."all together"...(as he thinks...I aint goin down for this shyte alone..)
or the Scott Bros.
"F@rking umpires.....close the roof.....parking is to close to the stadium.....food prices too high effecting match day results..... boot studders a lazy pr!ck...." (insert any whinge)
or Mick Malthouse
"ohhh...that's just riducluous...ridiculous question.......you take all day to think that up?" (notice you dont get an answer?)
or Allistair Clarkson
"wanna go out the back mate?...knock you f@#$ head off!...call me short".

Re: How will he handle it?
"Let's get one thing straight Gerard, winning is paramount at the St Kilda football club. We are a competitive outfit, we like to think we always go out there with a winning mindset. That will certainly never be compromised, our effort and belief it still there, and we'd like to think we will clock up some wins soon enough"

Re: How will he handle it?
"I never used the word rebuild Gerard! But what we will be doing is throwing out the birth cirtificates. Soon you will be seeing a Spencer White getting given an opportunity, Maybe a webster getting a senior game and a Minchington coming through. When you play for this club Gerard and wear our jumper there are non-negiatbles we expect you to be fiercely competitive and we go into every game wanting to win it."
When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

Geez if he pops out with "fresh erection" during a presser Ill be impressed... we'd have to ask how did he manage to "squeeze" it in...
