Nat Fyfe 2013 trade period
Only 21 yo and practically elite level in the AFL.
Not as flashy as dangerfield but still as effective.
Could be a 10 year player for the saints.
5 year contract and big coin a la Gehrig/Hamill. Say $700k pa?
We would need to pay overs to get him out of WA, but he could potentially get better and better.
Freo would be pretty close to their salary cap so they wouldn't be able to match the coin.
1st round pick and dal santo would do it. Don't mind giving up 1st round pick for a young-known quality quantity.
Future captain material too.

One of the few players going around I'd throw the sink at.
Him & Cotchin 2 best 22 and unders in the comp.
7-800 a year.

Re: Nat Fyfe 2013 trade period
Why would Freo be so close to the cap? Pavlich and McPharlin will be 32, Sandilands 31, they're veterans by a long way. Who are their other stars on big money? Definitely Mundy but not many others jump out; Mayne, Hill, Ballantyne? I reckon they'd be comfortably inside the cap if they're paying even a bit above market rates.PurpleHayes wrote:Freo would be pretty close to their salary cap so they wouldn't be able to match the coin.

A real wrist slitter
We have no hope.
But yeah you would throw the absolute kitchen sink at nat fyfe.
You'd throw the bathroom sink as well.
Just what we need . Young big bodied gun midfielder.
He goes to my cafe as well. Seems like a good bloke.

I'm starting to get the feeling that you are not sure about this Essendon team.Con Gorozidis wrote:Bombers are lying cheats.
Fyfe, dream on I reckon, he'd be signed up for the next 5 years wouldn't he? Future captain/brownlow.
Sydney can probably sneak him in their cap on 2 mil/year, cause bread & cheese are just so damn expensive up there.
Re: Nat Fyfe 2013 trade period
No chance - the Dockers have a tonne of cap room which is why they're mentioned in connexion with Buddy/Cloke etc. They're not about to lose someone like Fyfe. Unless we're after a FA, our best hope is to throw huge amounts of money at a young gun from a club with salary cap pressure, to make sure they have no chance of coming remotely close to what we're offering. A good example of that is someone like Dyson Heppell.

And the rest. At least $1Mill, and that could have an unsettling effect !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
Re: Nat Fyfe 2013 trade period
Is there is any great players who have left their home state in the last few years? The thing with these threads is people will say in 6 months time we were a chance of getting Fyffe just like the Frawley one last year. Hopefully the club are only working on realistic changes and we can have our fun on those that are 1000 to one.

Freo aren't anywhere near the cap.
It's been widely suggested that they will have enough cap space to be in the race to woo Buddy away from Hawthorn.

He's not a FA so we would be expecting Freo to just do a deal to send him to us?
Second rounder and CJ.

Ok, I understand now.plugger66 wrote:Mr Magic wrote:Is Crowley part of the deal?plugger66 wrote:

Let's do it.
We swap CJ for Crowley (like for like except we upgrade our tagger to one that can kick and who plays in the Bakes mode)
And Freo willingly give up Fyfe for a Round 2 pick.

Only if it's a late second rounder. We need to hold our ground on this because this type of deal could screw us for years.

Re: Nat Fyfe 2013 trade period
The fact that freo have cap space to lure Franklin/Cloke/Taylor is exactly why we should be targeting Fyfe.
Right now They need a ready made KPF or KPD (given the age of pav and mcpharlin) more than retaining Fyfe.
Lyon is ruthless, he will know that he needs to land those key position players to keep their 'window' open.
They also picked up Pearce in FA who would be on say $250-300k?
Wouldn't it be great to faaaak Ross Lyon over by offering Fyfe massive coin (say an extra 500k on his current wage) and long contract, which if freo chose to match, then they wouldnt have the 'massive' cap space to land buddy/Cloke/Taylor?

Firstly is he out of contract and second Freo will not get rid of their best ball winner to get any of those players. You say RL is ruthless but I am yet to see him be anything but loyal to his players. Many on here would argue to loyal.
