Milney gets AFL Life Membership

Amongst all the noise and clutter this week, this bit of news was snuck in to one H-S article

"The 33-year-old, who earned AFL life membership this week for 300 career games, has six goals from four games this year after leading the Saints goalkicking with 56 majors last season."

Surely lenny has got close to 300 as well. It will certainly be this year baring injury. He has one international game. Doubt he has any state games but may. How many night games has he played. Maybe we will have to work it out and tell the Saints.

Think there may be a few more than that. This includes state games, night games, international games. Surely Hall, Plugger and Carl got there as well.

Keep in mind, this number includes pre-season games, State of Origin etc.

Hence the reason there's not that much publicity about it, he hasn't actually played 300 VFL/AFL games yet!!!

I think that you are right Plugger. I took the article on face value. The Saints site has him at 262 Games - "he may not make the 300."

He will get him life membership of the AFL this year baring injury. And I would say pretty soon.

It's in the AFL Season Guide 2013. Alas, I bought my last copy in 2009. Up until 2008, he had 22 games, so it might be close to 30. He also played 2 games in the 2003 International Series against Ireland. So he must be very, very close to 300 in total, if not past it.

After a bit if research, I can reveal that Lenny Hayes will qualify* for AFL life membership on Thursday (*assuming pre-season and International Rules games are counted). He has played 30 pre-season games, 2 International Rules games and 267 premiership games - a total of 299.

I also assume that practice games are not counted e.g. our game against GWS that we lost.

For Stephen Milne, the total is 33 +4 +262 = 299

Thanks for that. Still say it is pretty ordinary that the Saints havent made some sort of deal of both Milney and Lenny becoming AFL life members.

According to Patrick Keane from AFL he qualifies this week. I'd probably trust him over HS
