STRENGTH and pace WIN THE GAME
We were monstered by the Bombers. They were too strong for us. Simple as that. Our forward thrusts were continually repelled.
We need a monster forward who can at least bring the ball to ground so that our smaller forwards might at least crumb a goal.
Too many times tonight the ball was bombed forward and players like Saad, Milne, Carol Thompson were trying to outmark
players taller and stronger than them. It failed every time. Maybe Kosi would have helped but we need a forward to consistently make the contest.
The fact that the Bombers dominated the midfield certainly didn't allow for a smooth delivery to our forward line mosquito fleet either.

Rooey and Kosi would have helped as they do give a target but we need two more super quick mids. Hope Wright comes on quick he will be a gun and just what we need

Leg speed has been our weakness for years. As good as Lenny, Dal, BJ, Monti are/were none of them is lightning fast. These days most sides have a couple of players with genuine leg speed.

The Bombers were certainly faster and bigger bodied.
You forgot to mention "delivery" into the forward line. Poor delivery by Saints players often led to easy Bomber re-bounds and goals on the break. It's called "foot"ball. How our recruiters took on so many poor kickers, I will never know!

I thought we were done in the air as mu h as anything... their backs were too tall for us and their forwards took a heap of marks...

I agree, but thought a lot of that was due to them winning through the middle. When Maister was in the ruck it was as if there was only one team there.SuperDuper wrote:I thought we were done in the air as mu h as anything... their backs were too tall for us and their forwards took a heap of marks...

Yes, we were also taken apart in the air.
Before the match, I thought that a smaller faster side at Etihad, may just be the way to go. Not only was I wrong, but so were the Coaching staff! We will need Hickey in against Sydney next Thursday, after the short break. Anyone for Kosi next Thursday too??

They were too strong. What is that bloke named Dank doing now. Maybe he could help us.

Is it too much to ask for a team of tall, strong, fast, agile, skillful, intelligent footballers?

Kosi should have been playin all year ,the midget forwards were laughable again tonight.Junction Oval wrote:Yes, we were also taken apart in the air.

He's been struggling at VFL level, FFS.
But he will get a game soon, especially if we lose our next 4 (SYD, Coll, Carlton, Adelaide).
