about Selection
Allbeit with the benefit of hindsight......our selectors made some pretty poor choices....
FOUR small forwards to share limited opportunity, and mostly completely lacking physical presence.
Only one ruckman against this mob, it was embarrasing to see Meister contesting the centre bounce.
Lack of tall defender, their talls had no competition. Blake is no star, bit he can at least contest!
Hickey or even Kosi would be less embarasing in the ruck.
We were better balanced when Seb Ross replaced Milera.
I reckon this selection probably cost us 4 or 5 goals.

Re: about Selection
Blake would have given at least a few freekicks away after last weeks performance. I agree on the balance. Which it makes it more baffling that Sebastian Ross should have started and Milera or TDL should have been sub.

Re: about Selection
The problem with the four small forwards is none of them can rotate through the midfield this really limits our options. Seb Ross should have started and one of TDL or Milera should have been sub.
We also definetely needed another ruckman this would have allowed us to keep two falls in the forward 50. There was a 3 minute period in the 2nd quarter where the tallest bloke up forward was Lenny

Re: about Selection
By playing three small forwards and Milera we were too small. What are they going to do when Schneids returns. Play all five? Ridiculous situation. They should be nursing along at least one medium forward.

Re: about Selection
Fair call OP. We needed Hickey in and Ive seen enough of Seb Ross to think hes going to be a player.
When Maister had to play ruck (not his fault) it was just demoralising.

Re: about Selection
This is definately a better balanced team than last week.
We have ruck support for Big Mack.
We have defenders.
We have a proper forward line, not just four opportunists.
And we're debuting a couple of rookie midfleilers.
Let's hope the boys play with pride and confidence.
Thank you selectors

Even dropping Kosi in there for ruck duties would have helped big boy.evo wrote:I find not playing Lee and Sippos against a tall side like Essendon baffling.
SW should know these players better I would have thought.
100 goals in 14 games...Lockett is the key
