Umpiring
This is basically rugby now, you get caught holding it and they call play on. Disgrace, bloody disgrace. Players are completely confused. It's better to kick in danger now then attack it, stupid.
Wake up umpiring department.

Re: Umpiring
Bombers are under no obligation to make any effort to get rid of the ball when tackled.
Carlisle just wrapped in a tackle and waits for the umpire to ball it up. Eventually he falls over and gets a free for in the back!

Re: Umpiring
Umpires wait until the Essendon players are swung and tackled then tackled again then pay in the back or high. Disgraceful and we've topped it far to often.

Re: Umpiring
torture to watch - we were smashed in contested possession and by the umpires - we also turned over and missed way too many targets - no way milne milera saad and tdl can play in the one team - but the umpiring is so frustrating to watch
Re: Umpiring
Some poor decisions tonight, but we were so bad that even a team of umpires with money on us couldn't have made the difference. Let's not pretend the umpiring was the difference.millarsaint wrote:I give up on the umpiring this year. some terrible decisions. some lead to goals. just throw up my arms and laugh. what a joke.
Re: Umpiring

I can honestly say that I dont understand the rules anymore. I just dont know what is supposed to happen.
We didnt lose cos of the umpires though, we lost cos we didnt have a go.

Re: Umpiring
MILNE - what does the poor guy need to do to get a free kick?
The umpires hate him... And what's worse is, they seem to always pay free kicks against him unnecessarily, it's almost like they are trying to bait him so that he responds and they can pay a 50 meter penalty

Re: Umpiring
The umpiring was poor tonight , so many soft decisions both ways !
We probably got the best of it , but early when the game was close a couple of soft ones helped them get a four goal break !
Our ineptitude meant that we were never going to close that gap !

Re: Umpiring
The worst umpiring decision went in our favour, although not to any great advantage. When Armed Saad marked on the flank just before half time, and went back to take his kick, he sneaked one step in. The umpire saw this and put him back. That ate into his 30 seconds. As he was walking in to kick, it seemed that the umpire called play on (he certainly put his hands in the air to signal it) but a split second later, the siren sounded. He let Armed have his kick, which he sprayed. Not too many times do you see an umpire change his mind.
Re: Umpiring
Umpiring was typically pathetic, but both sides copped it.. However, the classic contact below the knees farce reared its head again when an essendon player, head over the ball low down cannoned into one of our players shins.. High tackle against us.. Ridiculous once again..

Re: Umpiring
Sorry, but you've got that wrong. Umpires don't change their minds. He was just signaling the siren had gone like they do at the end of every qtr at every match.perfectionist wrote:The worst umpiring decision went in our favour, although not to any great advantage. Re: Umpiring
Nope. He put his hands up, in the play on style, before the siren went. Strangely, after the siren went, he put one hand up. Dunno what that was about either.8856brother wrote:Sorry, but you've got that wrong. Umpires don't change their minds. Re: Umpiring
Yea that was a joke, if our player was running at him, then ok, but he's standing still and the essendon player runs into him. Just stupid. However I didn't get so angry at the umps compared to the Richmond game, the umps costs us in that game. This one, Essendon were just better with the game style tbh, and we went too short in the forward line again, relying on two talls is meh, doesn't work.Sobraz wrote:Umpiring was typically pathetic, but both sides copped it.. Re: Umpiring
I reckon we have had a loos in every game so far. It's not just the kicks they are giving away, it's the ones they are missing too

In an episode of Futurama they have changed baseball into a no sensical crap bag with so many stupid rules it's unwatchable. It's getting close with AFL.
