Whats with all off the negative predictions?, Essendon arn't that great and neither are we, they always come out and win there first stretch of games and die in the ass imo will be no different this year, wasn't that long ago we flogged them by over 10 goals, anyway it will be closer than most people think.
What's with having a go at someone's opinion or feeling?

I think they are that great personally...

So I'll be very impressed if we can win.

I wasn't having a go at him for starters, I was using him as an example, Ryder is out, Fletcher is in doubt and Hurley has a sore wrist, anyway im very confident of an upset..... be great to see Riewoldt V Carlisle.

I'm with you 94… think we're a great chance,

Though I'm not generally 'positive' for the sake of it… people get ridiculed for being realistic on here sometimes, that's all.

The betting odds say that we are still outsiders, which makes sense.

Fair enough mate, yes I can see why we are ranked outsiders we are expected to be the Bulldogs of 2012

It would do no harm for the boys to watch the Port/Crows match and take note of Port Adelaide's intensity and zeal. I want to see the Saints show that sort of intensity, then who knows?

what?...cant have an opinion ??

farrrrk me

i too think we will get beat
why?
because the odds say so, in reality if you were putting money on this game you would put some on the bombers
thats why.

do i hope we'll win?
of course
do i think we will?
no i dont

do i hope im 100% wrong and we get up and smash the cheating drug f***ed assholes into the middle of next wekk and see the lok of hate on hirds face as the siren blows with BJ still holding his chest from a piecing shirt front tackle that renders him useless and soft for much of the game
of course i do

but im a negative nelly
i think we'll lose
so what numpties 8-) 8-) 8-)

Summed up beautifully.

We may go hard all guns blazing for the first half then fall away in the last.

Well im not negative or positive. Ive narrowed it down to 2. Either us or Essendon. I cant see it being a draw but a forfeit is still on the cards afterall our recent record is one win and one forfeit.

I don't think we will win, but I am hoping for an upset. It's better that I think we lose, then if we don't I won't be too disappointed...still will be disappointed, but if we win...it will make it even more sweeter, especially against the cheaters and Goddard and their supporters!!!

Cmon Saints!

You think everyone is being negative, but then say "it will be closer than most people think"

That has to be one of the most depressing things I've read on here. Taking comfort in not being smashed by Essendon!

I'm with Selhurst Saint on this. I can feel a win coming on.

Anzac day will be in the back of everyone's minds. So net advantage on that score.
I would suggest our poor judgement will result in numerous turnovers.
Handballing high to someone so he has to stop and jump up to receive. Happens far too often. Kicking to Nick's feet. Not running into space to present an option. Tackling like the Demons do.
Reduce these and we have a shot at giving Hird a reason to take medication.

I think we are a chance. Feeling more confident by the day. They will have an emotional crash at some point.

Would be typical of St Kilda to go out and give them a going over. People think we're gone , rebuilding etc etc.
Think we'll give it a go, but they have the ability to hurt our errors. Keep the errors to a minimum, take our chances, and we'll belt them.

Go Saints!

I just hope we throw everything (including the kitchen sinks) at those bastards. If they do get the win, I wanna to see Essendon players limping from the field at the end of the match.

Remember, they're due for a loss. They got out of jail last week. Time for Essendon to be brought back to earth. Take no prisoners, Saints!

I sense a real steeliness from both Coach and Players this week (more than expected). We have the capability of winning, so strong vocal support of the team will be needed.

In general - is at Etihad where we play well, a good confidence builder last week, a running side - not top heavy, Esendon have been up for a while - can it continue? 5 changes will unbalance them. Hurley may be kept for the Collingwood match.

Watch for - a good 1st qtr. is a must. Rooey on top. Aggression at the ball & ball carrier. Better forward line delivery - pleeeaaassseee. Hold their playmakers - Watson, Stanton, Goddard. Close checking to overcome pace.

What is so great about them??

Personal wise I only count 1 player at champion/A grade status being Watson... With a mention to Fletcher, who's well past it, and now BJ...

Look at the best teams of recent years...

Geelong: Bartell, Ablett, Chapman, Scarlett etc the list goes on..
Magpies: Swan, Pendles, Cloke, Shaw, Thomas
Hawks: Franklin, Mitchell, Hodge, Rioli
Even Saints during out best years: Roo, Lenny, Dal, Fisher, BJ, Milne, Joey...

All these guys have been all Australian, delivering high level footy for years... Essendon are a bunch of B-graders like Howlett and Hocking revolving around Watson, playing on emotion... I rate Richmond as a deeper talent pool..

Fully expect to win comfortably tomorrow evening..

Essendon have a formidable midfield which has a good balance of experience and youth...Watson, Goddard, Stanton, Zakarakis, Heppell and Bellchambers and Ryder in the ruck.

Essendon certainly are a team on the rise and if their players escape bannings they are positioned nicely to play deep into September over the next 3-4 years. With the likely decline of the Pies, Hawks and Swans, all with some ageing stars, I can see the Bombers giving the flag a serious tilt over that time period....Unfortunately.
