Love that jumper. Very close to the old candy-stripe clash strip of, what, 10 years ago?

You wonder why a guernsey these colours couldn't be our alternative strip , If it clashed with anyone we'd be using our home strip !
In red white and black from 73

Me too. I loved the candy stripe. One of my favourite Saints jumpers.

Wasn't there some rule that you're not allowed stripes on away strips ... unless you are Collingwood? But they don't really need one as they seldom play away games.mr six o'clock wrote:You wonder why a guernsey these colours couldn't be our alternative strip , If it clashed with anyone we'd be using our home strip !

Or Geelong?bigcarl wrote:Wasn't there some rule that you're not allowed stripes on away strips ... unless you are Collingwood?
Personally I would like to see some variation on the 140th hoops as an away strip. Introduce more variation from year to year. Something like this:

BY the way (nothing to do with 1888 any more, sorry) isn't the away strip the kind of issue the members should be asked to vote on??
Dogs members voted for the '54 strip for 2012 onwards from a choice of four, and Crows members voted for this years away "murder of the crows" strip, from a choice of 3. Where's our choice ever been?

You're kinda correct as the German colours were then Red, White & Black. We changed White to Yellow around WW1.

I never knew the late great Jimmy Stewart played for the Saintssaintbrat wrote:the Saints will unveil the small canvas jumper worn by James Stewart in 1888.
Great story though. I too would love to see the "candy stripes" heritage strip (from 2004?) brought back.
