A blow for Sandringham, with Bayside Council holding over funding for the planned resurfacing of Trevor Barker Oval. The Zebras are fuming.

Why? He hasnt done nearly enough. it would be stupid to play him this early.

Re: Sandringham Games, News and Reviews 2013
interchange and emergencies are always named in both - as players who may slip out of the saints team with final selection go back to Sandy and then there is a shuffle down to the devleopment squad team.bergholt wrote:Why is Wright named at Sandy?saintbrat wrote:Team selection: In: Dowler, Zijai, Shakallis, Williams, Blake & Wright

But Wright is named on the field for the Saints, and the four interchange players (Siposs, Lee, Jones, Ray) aren't named for Sandy.saintbrat wrote:interchange and emergencies are always named in both

Re: Sandringham Games, News and Reviews 2013
Some terrific signs for the Saints from the match reports.
Saunders on fire
Minchington on fire
Cockie (not a saint but we should draft or rookie him) on fire
Ledger and Dunny both having excellent games
White and Hickey getting some ball
Blake/Lee/Kosi/Webster not playing as they are in the NZ squad of 26.
p.s
Apparently SAINTSATIONAL very own plugger66 is doing the stats in the Port Coaches box.
Gold!

Re: Sandringham Games, News and Reviews 2013
Cant confirm - but Dunny copped a knee to the hip and Saunders was seen icing his calf.borderbarry wrote:Are you sure Saunders and Dunell had injuries, or taken off earlly for NZ?
Match was a DRAW.
Curren had another ripper - but limped off with sore knee at end....
Saunders had 24 disposals and 4 tackles up to 3/4 time!
Apparently Hickey, Spencer and Minch did some terrific things...

Re: Sandringham Games, News and Reviews 2013
Sandringham 16.12.108
Port Melbourne 16.12.108
Goals: Michaliades, White 3, Minchington, Ledger, Murdoch 2, Shenton, Dowler, Saunders, Pierce 1
Best (my best not official): Saunders, Curren, Michailaides, Marigliani, White, Ledger, Cockie
What an unbelievable game of footy. Umpiring was absolutely pathetic and quite honestly it went both ways but in last minute when you jump on guys back and then just sit on his back and we dont get a free then you're lost for words. Enough about those orange idiots though.
Josh Saunders was BOG today, he came off during last quarter and iced his calf so hopefully nothing serious. Finished with 24 disposals, 4 tackles, 6 marks and 1 goal. Really does look like genuine talent.
Tommy Curren put in yet another blinder. Has to be elevated at some stage but bit of concern around his knee. Looked to jar it early in 2nd half and didnt look comfortable for rest of game and then in another contest seemed cop another knock and came off and didnt go back on. Just the lazy 26 disposals, 2 tackles, 5 marks for Tommy this week.
Tommy Ledger was very good, kicked unbelievable goal from boundary early in game. 22 disposals, 3 tackles, 7 marks and 2 goals for the tommygun.
Darren Minchington is a genuine small forward/midfield talent. You can see why Scotty Watters rates him so highly. Kicked 2 goals to go with 19 disposals, 6 tackles, 4 marks.
Staley showed a little bit, but still not sold he's key defender. Stood on Galea i think for most of day when Shepheard wasnt down back.
Hickey was alright, need to learn kick through ball. Took couple ripping contested pack marks.
Pierce competed well in ruck. Lever I didnt see much of today.
Webster had quiet game. Did finish with 17 disposals though.
On Zebs side thing, Chris Michaliades is class act. His enthusiasm and energy is something alot Saints players could learn to do. Kicked 3 goals, 14 disposals, 4 tackles and 2 marks.
Marcus Marigliani led from front, 26 disposals, 2 tackles and incredible 12 marks!
Yilber Zijai on debut had 18 dispsosals & 6 marks!

Strong bodied midfielder. Came from Dragons where finished 3rd in B&F. Played in Saints Intra Club, and has impressed McPhee & Sandy coaching staff all preseason. Looks like bit of ball magnet, seems to get himself into right position.stinger wrote:can you tell us a bit more about him....stkildathunda wrote:Sandringham 16.12.108

Re: Sandringham Games, News and Reviews 2013
Staley played his best game at Sandy today...Simon McPhee singled him out in the post match address...
Agree the umpiring was inconsistent to say the least...both sides received dubious frees at different stages...and some of the 50 metre penalties for minor infringements were hard to swallow.
Pity Murdoch was rested for the last 1/4...he did a great job on John Baird...he wanted to keep playing, but was told to rest up...maybe he's on the plane to NZ later this week.
Thought Pierce did a great job in the ruck against a very experienced player in Skipper
Great saving mark from Shepheard in the dying minutes...Port player was just waiting for the ball to drop into his hands , but Hamish running at full pace managed to grab the mark...a real game saver
