Why not both?

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Agree that Wright is the kind of high-impact player we need. Curren could probably do a solid job as an additional midfield rotation but I don't see him making a big impact. I'd rather Curren in the team than Jones, but apparently 29 year old taggers who can't kick, mark, handball or tag are exactly what a rebuilding team needs.

Because then we'll lose to GWS?

Who said TC was slow? How inaccurate is that??

His acceleration is probably his main asset, wouldn't win a 100m, but his power over 10-20 to spread/carry away from a contest would be his biggest asset.

He would be VFL version of Nathan Jones, Joey, David Rodan.... Speedy would be my assessment.

He is not a clearance player by any means! And is generally used as a ball carrier, small fwd or run with player...

He doesn't even play inside (Cockie, Ross, Ledger) and often works in a rotation with Myke Cook....

Should he be upgraded?

If our fwds continue to not lay tackles or do the defensive work.... In he comes for Saad or Milne! He can then chop out CJ or Joey.... In the midfield...

He has been the best player in the VFL along with Dunnell and they both have a great attitude. He deserves an opportunity sooner rather than later.

"SEAN Dempster’s broken hand will force at least one change to the St Kilda line-up for this Saturday’s match against GWS.

Dempster’s absence is a big blow for St Kilda, given fellow defender James Gwilt is likely to be sidelined for another month with a knee injury.

Tom Simpkin will be strongly considered after impressing for Sandringham on the weekend. The 22-year-old began the game as a loose defender, before moving onto the dangerous Aaron Edwards and limiting the key forwards influence.

Sebastian Ross was skilful across half-back, collecting 19 disposals including countless hard ball gets, while Nathan Wright demonstrated great dash and flair.

Another option is to play Rhys Stanley as a permanent defender against GWS. He spent the first three quarters as a marking forward against Richmond, booting one goal leading high up the ground, yet he demonstrated his versatility in the final term, roaming the defensive 50 as a loose man.

Trent Dennis-Lane was the star of the forward line in the VFL, booting five goals and will be in the frame to return to the senior side this Saturday after donning the green vest in round one.

Tom Lee and Justin Koschitzke are additional forward options for Scott Watters to consider, both men performing strongly for Sandringham on Sunday.

Other senior listed players Sam Dunell and Tom Ledger played important roles in the engine room and on the wing, both impressing with their clean ball use and stamina.

While technically not in the mix to play, rookie and 2012 Sandringham best and fairest Tom Curren was outstanding in the midfield on the weekend, collecting 24 disposals and booting two goals.

Ruckman Tom Hickey and experienced utility Farren Ray will both undergo tests this week to determine their availability after missing last weekend due to injury."

Based on that article, there'll be about eight changes. It talks up Simpkin, Ross, Wright, Dennis-Lane, Lee, Koschitzke, Dunell, Ledger and Curren; and then mentions that Hickey and Ray might be back as well. I reckon it might be a little over the top, given that Sandy lost and those few who watched them didn't sound so positive.

Nathan Wright should come under serious consideration. Dempster out.

Simpkin would be a monty..... Blakey should be an out.

Siposs will come under scrutiny.... With Dunnell pressing...

Kosi will be in the Mix, but Maister may hold his spot....for the moment

TDL needs to keep putting pressure on Milne, Saad, Milera.... All of whom are not winning enough ball and not tackling

B: Simpkin...... Stanley ........ Geary
HB: Roberton......Fisher......... Wright
C: Gilbert..... .... Armitage...... Newnes
HF: Schnieder..... Riewoldt .... Montagna
F: Milne.............. Maister ....... Milera

Foll: McEvoy ...... Dal Santo .... Jones

Int: Hayes...... Siposs ..... Steven .... Saad...... Dunnell .... Ross ...... Koschitzke
