Clint Jones
Thought he was one of our worst last night. His confidence in his kicking was as low as it's ever been. Don't you wish sometimes that he would just kick it forwards instead of spinning in circles, only to handball it to someone about to get caught. When on Ablett last night he got slaughtered too. Should we think about dropping him next week for Montagna?

No. CJ has clerances and Armo 8.Sainter93 wrote:Thought he was one of our worst last night.?
Kept Bennell quiet too.
Can see why you questions aspects of his game, but would not have him anywhere near our worst.

The way Gablett is playing these days, that tends to be the norm for most players.

Re: Clint Jones
Would rather joey continues to play on the oppositions best, we need another mid with an offensive side.
Geary surely deserves a run in the middle. Least he'd get his hands on it, I'd back him in.
Newnes to move back.

Re: Clint Jones
I thought he was pretty good last night but... I see him as experienced back-up, which was for Montagna last night.
We are formost rebuilding IMO, and CJ playing means we are missing out on getting experience in our under 25's... Something we just can't keep doing. Dunnel, Newnes, Wright, Ledger, all need to play in front if CJ unless we are missing some of other experienced mids. Same goes for Kosi & Blake... Back up only.

Dragit spoke about Kosi. Nobody else has mentioned him yet!
OK, the first game is gone. Understand the difference in temperature was the main factor,Watters says they all cramped. The human body just cannot adapt to that temp change, it takes several days. None of you would have played any sport so you have no clue, you think its like a computer game.

CJ earnt his keep yet again last Sat night and he did a serviceable job negating Bennell...some other players in the team didn't get near it and if CJ is dropped before them, that sucks!! CJ bust his guts for us and deserves his spot in the team. If you want your young talented future mids to learn about focus and mental toughness CJ sets the standard.

Good points there Scollop, though the Saints fans obsessed with "style over substance" might disagree.Scollop wrote:CJ earnt his keep yet again last Sat night and he did a serviceable job negating Bennell...some other players in the team didn't get near it and if CJ is dropped before them, that sucks!! Re: Clint Jones
CJ's not our problem, he gives his all everytime. Our problem is we don't have any young mids demanding a spot. Ledger is inconsistent and built like a weed, Ross looks like a lost puppy dog. We just don't have any young mids with grunt sad to say. Wright is about our best young option and he needs time.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

I just posted this in another thread. Midfield is where you MUST excel, but yet midfield is where our young talent is probably weakest.PJ wrote: Our problem is we don't have any young mids demanding a spot.

Re: Clint Jones
Just immediately prior Le Toure, though we will be in France when the race is on. We are not riding any of the race route, but will soak up some of the colour.loris wrote:

We will be cycling in the Loire Valley.
I searched around and found this company which offers excellent value, and the freedom to set your own schedule and pace.

We combined a few together to make an 8 day cycling trip.
An easy start, but if we like it as much as we think we will, it will be the first of many.

I'm one of them. No place in a St Kilda team for blokes who can't play the game pursuant to the skills the game requires... CJ, Blake, Gram (happily gone), and Gilbert
Also, CJ as a tagger has to anhhialate someone significant every game he plays to get anywhere near the 22, and he hasn't been the tagger he once was for a couple of years.
Generally, though, if you can't kick the f****** football, you don't play
Gordon Fode couldda been Plugga
Re: Clint Jones
Might have been quite an attack on him last week. But he was brilliant tonight. Clearance work and attack on the ball was class.

Re: Clint Jones
CJ's kicking does lack penetration, but he gets to a lot of contests and goes straight at the ball. He isn't a stylish footballer, but he is bloody effective.groupie1 wrote:I'm one of them.
