If so, where will I find it?
Yep on the Saints website but being older than you Barry have no idea how to put it on here.

Re: Team for GWS
well that looks full strength to me... A bit surprised no simpkin or schneider... and stanley is obviously out... but what is interesting is:
no Kosi .. seems to be back-up/depth heading into the season
Wright + Murdoch seem to be ahead of the likes of Dunnell, Curren, Ledger, Ross ...

Still no Simpkin and Dempster and Rhys out for up to a month. Three backs that We Need. Beautiful start to the year from the injury gods!!

Re: Team for GWS
Doubt if there many older than I who are regular Saintsationalists. Going on for 73. How old are you Plugger66?
I was only a young sprout when I joined, 63.

Let's pencil in beating GWS and GC.desertsaint wrote:a concern.Quixote wrote:Still no Simpkin and Dempster and Rhys out for up to a month. Three backs that We Need. Beautiful start to the year from the injury gods!!
All we need to do is beat Tigers at the G and we are 3-0 with an outside chance of making the eight.
Easy lol!

Re: Team for GWS
It's early in the year Quixote! I imagine that Simpkin and Schneider will come back though Sandringham to ease them into match conditioning. The side that will run out against GWS is a rehearsal for Round 1 hence they consider the above wont be ready for that game - with the possible exception of Stanley.Quixote wrote:Still no Simpkin and Dempster and Rhys out for up to a month. The beauty is our first game is against GCS and our depth has improved so we should have the players to cover them...

Re: Team for GWS
For mine, how we'll line up if we assume this is the team they're looking at for Round 1 (so Joey out):
FB: // //
HB: // //
CR: // //
RK: // //
HF: // //
FF: // //
INT: // //
SUB:
EM: // //
With the possible switch of Jones in (for Ablett, although I wouldn't bother) and Wright or Murdoch out.
Nice to see kids in. Would be nice to see Simpkin, Dempster and Stanley too.

Re: Team for GWS
At the moment, he's all we got. I'd rather him than JB, who's only listed as 1cm taller, and the only other options are:bigcarl wrote:Good effort Uncle Barrels, but I reckon is too short for full back
Siposs - same height
Roberton - 194cm but skinny
Lee - 194cm but a forward
Maister - 194cm and 98kgs, but not a backman's arsehole, as we've seen already.
Staley (194/93), Ferguson (194/89), Simpkin (191/92), Stanley (200/96) or Lever (200/87) are all possible options, but not in the squad, rookies or haven't played senior footy this year.
The only other option is moving Fisher back a line, but then we run into the issue of who's going to play CHB...
I suppose that would mean something like this:
FB: Gwilt // Fisher // Geary
HB: Siposs // Gilbert // Roberton
CR: Steven // Hayes // Ray
With the other lines unchanged...
No thanks.

Re: Team for GWS
If we look at the blokes under-or currently- 23, then going forward (as the list stands at the moment), we'd look something a little like this...
FB: Simpkin // Stanley // Roberton
HB: Wright // Lever // Ferguson
CR: Siposs // Ross // Newnes
RK: Hickey // Curren // Steven
HF: Murdoch // Lee // Markworth
FF: Pierce // White // Minchington
INT: Dunell // Saunders // Ledger
SUB: Shenton
EM: Webster // Staley
It's not the best team out there, and no doubt someone will come along and completely slate it, but its better than our future was looking 2 years ago.
There's a few potential A-graders in there, some very promising kids, and a super X-factor forward (White). We still look a little brittle down the spine, and Pierce will definitely need to come on, but I'm getting happier.
nb: McEvoy and Saad, while 23, were a touch too old for the hypothetical. Dunell just sneaks in.
