the royal 'We' has appeared in response to Danes efforts this week.
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/s ... 2fr8y.html
To this columnist, the decision to go behind the club's back in itself does not present as a major crime in the football-journalism context. But, in the context of Swan's standing at the club and the high stakes surrounding his questionable future with the Magpies, it becomes a significant factor. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

We wrote last year that Collingwood should cut its losses and sack him, but naturally that did not happen. For a start - and although the club could have afforded the payout - it would have been forced to retain his six-figure wage in the 2013 salary cap.

Fake controversy, and buulshit outrage by McGuire.
Only a certain number of times Crawford and Newman's antics will draw viewers.
McGuire reminds me of Jack Little On the wrestling.

My argument was not with Swan..I'm sure he answered truthfully to the questions that werte posed.
I'm saying the whole thing was orchestrated so the difficult questions would not be asked.

I do not have a drug problem is a long way from NO I don't do party drugs!

according to caro...

"Pickering was unhappy with the Magpies' relatively low-key response to The Age column and has said that his player needed a forum to clear his name.

But Swan's interview did not achieve that.

Murkiness always surrounds interviews that come at a cost, but that is a reality of the big business of the AFL and the media and certainly - having taken part in the Matt Rendell interview on Footy Classified a year ago - there is no doubt that some exclusives justify their price tag.

No one at Channel Nine would say whether the interview with Swan boasted ''no- go'' zones, although journalist Damian Barrett was satisfied with the way his conversation with Swan was conducted and later presented.

Swan denied that he had a drug problem, a positive strike against his name or that he had ''self-reported'' to the AFL late last year.

He was not asked whether he used drugs, nor specifics surrounding the incident which led to him being suspended last year by the club.

He became a little muddled over the ''no smoke without fire'' cliché´ and did not really address his troubled relationship with Collingwood and where that might end. He said he had never met me - not true - and that he was no angel.

Anyone that has had dealings with fat ed will tell you that if the interview took place without his knowledge and consent, then swan would very lucky if he was only just sacked.

As whiskers suggested, the whole script would have been ticked off or it wouldn't have happened.
The 'we had no idea' approach is a tool to make it sound more authentic to the bogan masses.

Yes because it would be worth all this hassle and stuff in the media to do that. You need to stop looking behind you all the time. It will hurt your neck.

Like you who buries their head an says the AFL has it all under control. Disappointing that they can't self regulate then I wouldn't need to complain about them. Like when banks deregulate and are unanswerable, they have stuffed a lot of things up. It's about time Demetriou went and let someone else clean it his mess.

Can you tell me all the CEO of the AFL that were popular? I think Oakley was popular. He had stickers made about him. I know a good chiropractor.

Oakley was an arse kicking c%$#. I met him a few times and he was a really good guy though. The dull SA guy was alright Wayne Jackson as he was less combative and more conservative and inclusive in where he took the game. He stopped the threats to push out melbourne teams and still grew the game and oversaw the era of a move away from suburban grounds which was a very touchy subject.

Demetriou is just like most modern corporate CEOs in that he sees everything needs to look good on your watch without an eye to the future. The US economy is f%$#ed because they all want profits now so sell out the future. Too many outsource and sell up you don't actually have consumers to spend money.

Dimmy wants big television rights now while they still have TV but has lost sight of the running of the game.[/quote]

Best sports administrator in Aust sport - by a mile. Most on the inside acknowledge it, and it's the reason we are the envy of every other sport in Aust. Has he made mistakes along the way? Of course he has. Is the game better off now than when he took over? Of course it is. Those that disagree have their head in the sand.

Of course there's a certain level of spin doctoring that goes with the job. Almost every major company/business in the land does the same thing. I have mates who deal with the AFL, the NRL, the NBL, and the A-League. They reckon that Aussie Rules is that much more professional it's laughable.

I think we can all come to our own conclusions without getting caught up in such pathetic propaganda..

Swan loves the gear. He's never been caught. He's a gun footballer. Good on him.

unless you have seen him take something (gear) how can you say he loves it .

You need IQ about 180 to get into MENSA.
I reckon Clokes (4) would just about scrape it in!

But then they would deduct IQ points for Father & Mother Cloke. Any intelligence those boys have didn't come from those two.

BTW, here's an idea Travis, get a Myki, travel to Richmond Railway station and walk across to Gosch's paddock, then you won't have any parking problems.

AFLPA have objected to his fine.. But was the last straw after repeatedly parking there- even though this time was just short to check physio time..

IRONY_ he lives Approx 1 Kilometre away in Richmond- and has been seen peddling to work.. -
