Cockie
Did I hear the footy show correctly last night in that cockie has gone to port? Can't find news on it but I'm sure that's what they said unless its a different cockie?!

Re: Cockie
Think what you heard was Sam taking the urine on the name of the Powerless president David KOCH, pronouncing it as Kochie.

Re: Cockie
I have heard that the saints may have taken Ccokie (Adam) in the draft had he not got injured. The injury was thought to put him out of contention for most of the coming season. However, apparently he has made a swift recovery and will play most of the season back at Sandringham.

CJ by a fair way IMO. But I have only seen Cockie 3 or 4 times. Looks a perfect VFL player to me.

Re: Cockie
probably agree with plugger but he looks a very high standard in the VFL, hard to tell if he would make it at AFL level as he seems to lack any real outstanding tricks. CJ is a competitor despite his often mention limitations.plugger66 wrote:Con Gorozidis wrote:Quick straw poll - who is better - Cockie or Cj

And to be honest i think if our club is to improve then CJ probably needs replacing.

Re: Cockie
i cant say ive seen much of cockie since he left the WAFL but going on WAFL form CJ is a better chaser a better tackler, has better second and third efforts and puts his body on the line more ... but Cockie kicks better and makes better decisions with the ball and can kick goals

Re: Cockie
Cockie is a good player, slightly better than James Magner IMO
he certainly hit the ball hard, and is quick for his build.... CJ is still perhaps a better player, largely due to superior fitness levels

Re: Cockie
Cockie is the perfect VFL player hard at it all day, but way too slow for AFL.
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell
Re: Cockie
Cockie is not that slow.... He is a clearance player, but has a real burst of pace...
Endurance would be his weakness

alot comes down to the fitness levels of jones. put cockie back into a decent development system and i think he will surpass jones quite quickly

Re: Cockie
would like to see Cockie at peak fitness to see what he could do. would surpass Jones then. maybe he has this season to shed some. like Magner, Cockie has the 'testosterone factor'!

Re: Cockie
Magner was an outstanding VFL player ..... Dual B&F
Is a good ordinary AFL player.... Every club needs a few of them...
Cockie has also played some AFL.... And is a gun VFL player.... GWS, port or GC should have nabbed him to help take the bruises while kids get stronger and develop...
Much like we have Beau whilst White, Lee develop

KOCH is a German surname, and it is pronounced "c**k" not "COSH".

Re: Cockie
As I said they are both of a standard that excels in the VFL, but doesn't quite cut it at AFL level, the same as Mister Beau.BigMart wrote:Magner was an outstanding VFL player ..... Dual B&F

Re: Cockie
well said. theres nothing with having mature depth players. they are a most when developing a young list. especially with the age demographic of our list. wilkes will be invaluable whilst we transition from the roo/kozi era to the new fwd line setup.BigMart wrote:Magner was an outstanding VFL player ..... i suspect now that we have our fwd line packed with depth and options we'll start to look at the midfield and down back for mature players. cockie would help here.

Re: Cockie
GC and GWS don't want mature-age solid contributors that would help them win games. They want to get games into their young guns while guaranteeing high draft picks. Winning isn't an issue when the AFL picks up the tab.defacto wrote:well said. theres nothing with having mature depth players. they are a most when developing a young list. especially with the age demographic of our list. wilkes will be invaluable whilst we transition from the roo/kozi era to the new fwd line setup.BigMart wrote:Magner was an outstanding VFL player ..... Re: Cockie
Getting thumped and ruining kids is not great for their development.... Kids need to be led well, and learn from senior players in a winning environment/culture
Port, Adel, WCE ..... Got the mixture right in their inception.... These two Mickey Mouse franchises have not!!
They will win less than 20% of their games in the first three years.... Does that sound familiar?!
In three years, these kids will...
1- want to go home and play for a real footy team
2- out of their clubs price range... You simply cannot afford have 15 first round picks on you list?!
