Jackson Ferguson
I like what I see there.
Has a good size, and a nice balance between defending and attacking from the backline.
Struggled a little when Stanley went off, but given his not likely to be the full back, I think he looks quite solid back there IMO.

Re: Jackson Ferguson
Very ordinary today.
Another year at Sandy and hopefully improves on the good form he showed last year, a long way off promotion at the moment.

I liked his game, admittedly from home though.
Not going to judge his game on Reid after Rhys went off too much, cause he's not really being groomed to take the opposition big guy is he?

I reckon that is harsh. Reid is a premiership player and took 2 very good marks on him. I thought he was OK. He provided a bit of run.

I thought he was ordinary today. I know he can do better and Rhys went off in the third quarter, so that's hardly relevant.SainterK wrote:How so?Bernard Shakey wrote:Very ordinary today.

No big rush to move him onto the senior list, let's just continue to develop him at Sandy and see what we get. My bet is a very good player.

Re: Jackson Ferguson
Reid is a premiership player.... What's that go to do with anything?
He is a reasonable player, who happened to be in a good team?! Do all premiership players become more talented after winning a GF?
I am sticking to my judgement, he plays a similar game to Gilbert and will not likely become. KPD more likely a third tall, run off backman...

Re: Jackson Ferguson
Was at the game and thought he moved quite well for a key defender. Simpkin will displace him so not a bad 4th key defender option behind Simpkin, Fisher and Stanley (if he's staying there).

You would disagree with me if I said Robert Hrvey was our greatest player. Your fascination with my posts suggests you have some issues. he is more than a premiership player, he can play or do you think otherwise. I know your MO when you agree you just dont answer. And as for your last statement that could well be right. unlike you i can agree but thats what i expect from certain people.

Re: Jackson Ferguson
I watched most of the game and didn't see enough in Ferg to think he is destined to be a regular AFL player. Wright showed much more IMHO.

Good size, shows promise, glimpses that he will make it but not just yet.

Still learning..
When Reid got one of the marks Ferguson was interested on where his man was even though the ball was coming their way. Would be different if Reid was leading but if you can read the ball and went for it there would have been no mark to Reid

Re: Jackson Ferguson
Ferguson did ok but at the same time didn't show anything that would suggest he'll be pushing for a promotion this year. He doesn't seem to have any incredible qualities or vast untapped talent, but he's a good size, reasonably athletic and by all reports has a good attitude. He plays taller than Gilbert and would be looking at becoming a second tall defender if he was to make it onto the senior list - not a gorilla minder, but someone to play on the athletic talls.
He's a good player to have on the rookie list, but not the messiah.

Re: Jackson Ferguson
id agree with all of that. But the thing about messiahs is they dont exist and in some ways im glad we didnt pay overs for mitch brown. 2 years ago we all thought simpkin was ordinary now most of us love the bloke. ferg still as likely as anyone else running around outside the afl.mad saint guy wrote:Ferguson did ok but at the same time didn't show anything that would suggest he'll be pushing for a promotion this year. He can be upgraded as soon as Markworth is put on the LTI list. Im not sure if they have yet. But you would think they will only upgrade a rookie if they are going to play or at least be emergency in the following game. Ferg was good in the first half on Sunday when he had the second or third tall but struggled on Reid which is no crime because he can really play and is probably their best tall forward.

I think he provides more rebound than Simpkin, I hope that we at least play him this year when Fish is due a rest.
