"All Night Appetite" on sen
Was listening earlier on and they were discussing about how we went on Sunday and how we will travel in the year ahead. Interesting to hear one person say that we will cause upsets and be a nuisance to other sides in the afl vying for finals. Predicted a development year and to finish between 9-13th. Though said that in 2014 to expect us to shoot up the ladder again.
Thoughts? Not sure how many people listen to this show but they have very good insights and discussions.

Re: "All Night Appetite" on sen
Pretty fair assessment.
I think how far we go this year is mainly in the hands of the youngish players who have been at the club now for a few to several years and whether they can en-masse all improve. I thinks we know what we can expect from most of our older players. 2014 is year we need some of our next gen players to step up and become key players, and for the others to at least improve:
* Armo: Can he step up from C grade to B grade and beond to bea genuine mid
* Steven: shows flashes of elite football. Can he do it more consisteantly, and improve his disposal?
* Siposs: still young, but can he this year be regular first 22 with a damaging foot
* Stanley: if he can stand up and play 22 games to the level of his potential, it would make a massive difference
* Ben: needs to improve his ruckwork to match his handy around the ground work
* Geary: Is good in many ways, but poor ball use lets him down too often. Can he improve?
* Simpkin: has been getting better and better. Bit we need for him to step up again to help ease the massive load on Sam
* Saad; massive first year last year. If he can learn to link better with team-mates and improve his awareness to get caught less he could become a star
Then there are the younger again players such as Newnes. If one or two of them can push up that would be good. And the young Hickey at least means that there is someone to share the load with Ben now.

Not sure how we'll be any better in 2014 than this year. We're likely to lose Hayes, Milney, Blake and Kosi with Roo, Dal, Joey and Fisher all slowing down a bit.

If milney kicks another forty plus and stays injury free I reckon he will go on
Hayes I'm fifty fifty on.
If he stays injury free and things look good in 2014 then I reckon he might go around again

Perhaps. Be nice to see Lenny and Milne play 300 games each, and maybe 350 for Dal!matrix wrote:If milney kicks another forty plus and stays injury free I reckon he will go on

I think there's enourmous upside with Saad. He had no football background as a junior and had only played a few seasons of football before last season. Given his rate of improvement to this stage I still believe he'll improve enormously over the next couple of seasons. The sky's the limit as far as I'm concerned. Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up in the midfield.Quixote wrote:I'll say it. If he stops being a goal hungry hog and lifts his eyes?saintsRrising wrote:Saad; massive first year last year. Averaged 20 disposals a game in 2012. He needs to win more ball in 2013.SaintPav wrote:Armo isn't a C grader. Well not any more at least.
