Less enthusiasiam for sponsorship.
Been following MM's valiant efforts to drum up enough support for SS to sponsor two players this year.
Can't help noticing that the numbers have dwindled.
Is it possible, like myself, that a portion of the forum have become disenchanted with the value that sponsors receive for their money.
I realise that it is a form of donation, but it would take only a small effort and even less financial outlay for the club to show some appreciation for that donation.
My family have sponsored several players over the years, but never felt appreciated by the club. The individual players were courteous and affable young men, but functions were slipshod and cheap. Contact from the club was sporadic, information about events had to be chased up rather than made easily available, and expressions of concern were unresponded to.
It's time the club stopped taking its supporters for granted, and start making efforts to connect with them.

Re: Less enthusiasiam for sponsorship.
I am more of the thought that there are now several, at least 5 with SS, options for shares of players . And even small amounts add up, so people are making a choice.
And some are taking players individually ,

Re: Less enthusiasiam for sponsorship.
I have no idea why people arent sponsoring but to me the club give plenty to the sponsor. Matter of fact to much IMO. Its a donation just like a membership. If people want value go to the share market or the banks. And I would hope a person donates to the club whether this site is good or bad. It isnt set up by the club so I dont see why you would penalise them. Sites pretty good anyway and no one is forced to look at it.

GO and P66 the reason I'm not involved this year is because I am saving every dollar I can for.....
A wedding (in seven weeks),
An overseas Honeymoon to the USA (in ten weeks),
saving for a deposit for a house (looking to buy in July),
Every dollar counts this year.
Nothing to do with the prizes or gifts at all.

Good luck with all that. Hope you enough money after all that to enjoy yourselves. Where are you going in the USA. I am probably going to New York on October next year and have been told it is an amazing place for a holiday. Going to Phuket this June. Talk about chalk and cheese.

Scary how many of them you will find.

Re: Less enthusiasiam for sponsorship.
Sorry cant say I agree with you at all. We sponsor several players each year and feel that the sponsorship program offers great value for money. The club has certainly sent me a calendar of events already so I have been able to organise my work roster to ensure that I can attend events. The only date not confirmed is the best and fairest, Not sure which functions you have been to but in my opinion they have all been worth attending. The players are always courteous and happy to spend time talking to supporters.GrumpyOne wrote:Been following MM's valiant efforts to drum up enough support for SS to sponsor two players this year.

The sponsorship of players by sites such as this one and other fan forums offers ordinary supporters who cannot afford to sponsor an individual player the chance to become involved and perhaps get to attend functions such as the best and fairest or this year the 140th celebration event which will be on saturday the fourth of may. And for $20 a share it is really not much of an outlay with a much better chance of being drewn than most lotteries.
And yes at the end of the day it is a donation to the club.

Re: Less enthusiasiam for sponsorship.
Do we think the club could generally be doing a better job of marketing of itself..it all seems very low-key leading up to this season.?
Re: Less enthusiasiam for sponsorship.
The sense of entitlement some people have is scary.
I take part in sponsorship cos I love supporting my Club and I want them to be financially successful. ive been to two functions in the last two seasons and theyve both been terrific.
Anything you get as a player sponsor is a bonus not an entitlement

Re: Less enthusiasiam for sponsorship.
It's hardly surprising numbers are down.
Bigfooty sponsor someone, truesainters, the Moorabin wing, plenty more supporter groups I'm sure.
The numbers are probably the same, just through different avenues.
