Sipposs / Newnes
Clearly anybody can see given good run with injuries these 2 are future leaders of saints.
They stood out big time in their development and given 2 more preseasons will make supporters
Hickey was impressive too think given time will develop.

Re: Sipposs / Newnes
Siposs definitely yes. Helps he was a Saints fan as a kid. Should be loyal and not a traitor type which is more relevant than ever due to Free Agency in the future.
Newnes is a bit new to make a call, but has beautiful skills and works hard.

Re: Sipposs / Newnes
Siposs was one you kind of just had the feeling he'd make it from day one. As I've said before Newnes was heavily featured on the TAC future stars series and was a sensible serious kid who had the confidence to take it up to Daicos and others. He had great skills and when he got to us I couldn't believe it. He was one that really drifted out from where he seemed destined to go in the draft. He looked top 15. He has the confidence of the coach which is a massive tick and loved it when Tyrone Vickery kept smashing him and he stood firm despite coming up to his waist and looking skinnier than one of his thighs.
Re: Sipposs / Newnes
My two favourite players!! Will be the new BJ and Dal for the next 10 years. Newnes was getting tagged by CJ at times yesterday, yes thats right. My thoughts, he is that good that Scotty is trying to teach him how to break a tag from a young age.
Sippa is just 20, played 16 games but my god, he is so composed when spotting up targets from half back. Its like he is a different player - instead of bombing it forward which he used to he lowers his eyes and did not miss one target from the back half. Outmarked everyone and intercepted a lot. Cant wait to see these two flourish this year.

Re: Sipposs / Newnes
I reckon it's the other way around. My impression is that Siposs still doesn't have the endurance to play the midfield role that he's earmarked for, so he'll be a bit betwixt and between still this year. Not sure about Newnes's tank either, but he seems to have the skills and nous to play a rotating inside/outside role for much of this year and build towards a real breakout year in 2014.saintspremiers wrote:Siposs definitely yes. Re: Sipposs / Newnes
I have 'heard' that Jack just works incredibly hard and is even more driven than most, think he will be a beauty. The fans are talking up Sippa as better than BJ, so hopefully he takes off, be good to see him after he's played 50 games.

I read in one of the news reports that Siposs played CHB. Anyone who saw the game, was that correct?

Siposs played "across half back" and occasionally floated up into the middle. To me it looked like his role was somewhere between what Goddard used to do and what Gram used to do !!bigcarl wrote:I read in one of the news reports that Siposs played CHB. Anyone who saw the game, was that correct?

Thanks Eastern, just trying to work out what the goal-to-goal line up might look like. So far IMO I have only Riewoldt (chf), Hayes (centre) and possibly Wilkes (ff).Eastern wrote:Siposs played "across half back" and occasionally floated up into the middle. I'm liking the sound of this a lot! How did our key defenders look...missed the reports.Eastern wrote:Siposs played "across half back" and occasionally floated up into the middle. I agree that both look like very good future players for us.lloyd21 wrote:Clearly anybody can see given good run with injuries these 2 are future leaders of saints.

I am not sure about though how you can see already that they are future leaders, and in particular Siposs who while having good wraps as a player has also been said to have a few attitude issues (nothing big and pretty much what many young players go through).

I fear that Siposs is grossly overrated by some people on here.

Re: Sipposs / Newnes
It's more excitement than 'overrating', we haven't had a quality young kid in quite a while because of Lyin and his lack of opportunities...
Sipposs has the earmarks of our next gun imo.. silky skills, height and just needs to build an engine..

Must make Zac Dawson & TDL guns too then… both given low numbers.lloyd21 wrote:Would think STK football club rates him Pick 75 national draft given number 2 as his 1st jumper number

Re: Sipposs / Newnes
Yeah they must have really rated TDL, trading him for pick 47, after giving him 19 games in 3 years.lloyd21 wrote:Actually Zac 1st number at Saints was number 43.
P.s
Sydney must have rated Tdl they gave him no 8 in " premiership team "
Plenty of duds have been handed low numbered jumpers… it means little.

Can't win with you mate they also gave away bloke called "Dempster" last time I looked he won a Best & Fairest and all Australian.
But as I say you must be right club must be " wrong "

Re: Sipposs / Newnes
I have no idea whether or not Siposs is going to become a star like everyone keeps suggesting… He looks pretty good to me, but I haven't seen enough yet to really have a good opinion. Newnes looks to me like a real chance and I have heard great things about his attitude and work rate…lloyd21 wrote:Can't win with you mate they also gave away bloke called "Dempster" last time I looked he won a Best & Fairest and all Australian.

I just don't think being handed a low numbered jumper means a lot (and I have huge reservations about TDL at this stage)
b.t.w - I wrote off Dempster years ago too though & am more than happy I was wrong there. It obviously doesn't matter what we all think, but I do find the over-rating on here pretty amusing sometimes…
e.g Steven for the brownlow last year? & now Siposs is already better than Goddard…

The key number in that statement is 75.lloyd21 wrote:Would think STK football club rates him Pick 75 national draft given number 2 as his 1st jumper number
