Maybe he heard that it really annoys you when people decide to change their surname, & that was a good enough reason.saintspremiers wrote:So what prompted this change at this stage of his life?
Odd.
Did he have a big fallout with his dad?
I guess te main thing is that his head is in a good space so he can play decent footy for Sandy and perhaps St. Kilda this year.

I heard that Arthur Penis who was a big knob for us in the sixties is also changing his name.

Re: Beau Wilkes changes his name
what do him and Nathan Burke have in common?
Got unluckily hit by G Ablett.
Reg: the G. Ablett hit on Burkey in a classic finals encounter from the 90s - It was extremely unlucky for Burkey and St.Kilda but I thought it was no accident on Ablett's part. From memory Burkey was chasing the great man and was right on his hammer, then suddenly one of Ablett's backward swinging arms flattened Burkey. D. Grant also copped a big hit that day. The loss of both was pivitol to the result.
I cherish every time we clock up a win against the Cats.
GO SAINTS!

The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.

Yeah, Dipper was very unlucky as well, in the 1989 Grand Final, when Ablett couldn't stop in time and put both knees into his back. The broken ribs punctured one of his lungs, so instead of receiving his medal, he was rushed to hospital. Remarkably co-ordinated guy, Ablett...yet so astonishingly clumsy.

True but limited sympathy for Dipper as, unlike Burke/Grant - but very much like Ablett, he was also a thug.Harves Man wrote: Yeah, Dipper was very unlucky as well, in the 1989 Grand Final, when Ablett couldn't stop in time and put both knees into his back. Re: Beau Wilkes changes his name
Definitely a better name change than Gary Hocking's one to Whiskas.
What is the pronunciation of it Maister? If it sounds like "meister" that works out well. Beau-meister would be a pretty good new nickname.
Yes, hopefully it feels like a bit of weight has been lifted from shoulders, he feels good about his name and it's a bit of fresh start for him onwards.

He said it was personal. I wouldn't like to speculate. I once considered doing it myself, so I can understand his decision.saintspremiers wrote:So what prompted this change at this stage of his life?
