Rooey post footy: Australia or America???
Now that he's hitched to the blonde beauty from Texas, does anyone think he's any chance to stay in Australia to take up a role at St. Kilda? Or he's is most likely to head to Texas and make babies instead?
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

Things look pretty tempting in Texas, dragit. Beautiful, wealthy wife, the ranch, the prospect of making a family. Sounds pretty idyllic. He's a very intense and driven individual, though. If he's got plans to stay involved in the AFL, I would think there's not much that could stop him. Just hope he makes lots of little Nicks and that the father/son rule stays in place.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Could play the role of JR in Dallas now that Larry Hagman has gone to the big Oil Barons Ball in the Sky.

Re: Rooey post footy: Australia or America???
He's been asked in interviews before, and I think his answer was always 6 months in Oz for the AFL season, and 6 months in the US. I imagine that could be pretty tough a few years down the track when you've got kids in school etc.
And he seems to have a role with Channel 7 stitched up, I see him following that path rather than a coaching role if he was to look for work in the AFL world....

Re: Rooey post footy: Australia or America???
I have no idea what his ambitions are after footy, but I can't imagine him sitting around chewing tobacco as a ranch hand for too long. He might take some time out after his playing career ends, but I imagine he will be drawn back to the game and Australia… as you said, he's a pretty driven person.White Winmar wrote:Things look pretty tempting in Texas, dragit. Well I just meant in the short term. He may come back eventually. I just think when hes finish he will want some time away from the game and the club. Only natural. He seems to have wide interests not simply footy.dragit wrote:Classic! Why is that Con?Con Gorozidis wrote:Who gives a flog?

He has said he has no interest in coaching at all so I doubt he will be at the Saints. Channel doing footy or Texas or both. i go with both.

Re: Rooey post footy: Australia or America???
really the only interest for us fans is potential father/sons !
i'm sure they'll be mostly raised and schooled over there , so we'll get nothing out of him post career apart from the occasional appearance at club functions !

Will have 8 boys.
They will never kick an aussie rules football.

Yeah, ideally we'd get both of them to impregnate as many women as possible in the next few years just in case. Any female volunteers here?Kernal75 wrote:Lets hope for our sake whatever he's doing he's pumping out babies! He and Lenny should stand at stud so we can get all of their proginy!!

She's from Waco- just a lovely little place unless your part of a fringe Christian group with a love of guns. Waco makes Seaford look classy.

Re: Rooey post footy: Australia or America???
i think this is where his future will lie ... i can see the AFL giving him a role running AFL USA, so possibly living in the USA but with trips back to Aust. with a somewhat regularity ... either way what ever he does im sure he will do well out of it.. as for future father/son picks lets just see how that turns out.. i reckon we have more chance of getting one from Kosi then Rooclarky449 wrote:Also said he has talked to a few AFL heads about helping out in the push for AFL in America!

Unless her daddy runs a business and employs him all his post footy earning capacity is in Oz. Not sure what AFL usa would pay but he might be living in the old Waco Koresh compound otherwise.

According to wikipedia - Stuart Annand, who played zero games, in 1989 and David Sierakowski, who played 93, in 1992.Rosco wrote:have we ever had a recruit via father-son?
The Bulldogs have four on their list right now.
Yeah nah pleasing positive
Re: Rooey post footy: Australia or America???
Apart from Siera, we ended up with Chad Davis and Stevie Lawrence on the list - I don't think either were FS picks though.Rosco wrote:have we ever had a recruit via father-son?

My band played in Tasmania a few months ago. All I did was drunkingly ask the audience in between songs to take me to "where Roo grew up, i want to pay my respects"
