New Players
We have drafted Nathan Wright, Spencer White, Brodie Murdoch, Josh Saunders and Lewis Pierce and promoted Sam Dunell. No Garlett or Colquhourn? Guess the brains trust know what they are doing. Any thoughts?

Re: New Players
Wright = defender
White = Forward
Murdoch= Forward
Saunders=midfielder
Pierce=Ruckman
No tall KPP defender that I can see so the strategy must be to develop from within. Just can't for the life of me think who.

Re: New Players
Where are all the west australians that watters was going to recuit ?
In red white and black from 73
Re: New Players
white is 195...
think that just about sorts us for KPF...
although, i remember hearing Mick Malthouse commentating on one of our games saying that Key Defenders usually come to a club as a forward... so perhaps that is our goal...???

Re: New Players
This is what the Herald/Sun says:
Wright: Athletic midfielder/defender who attacks the ball aggressively and rarely fumbles. Has speed and a big leap. Hard to beat one-on-one. Averaged 15 disposals in his four matches for Vic Country in this year’s under-18 championships.
White :Very raw but freakishly talented key forward. Received a late call-up to the draft camp after a strong finish to the TAC Cup season, finishing second in the league goalkicking award. Tested exceptionally in running and standing vertical jumps.
Murdoch: Left-footed medium forward with terrific athleticism highlighted by his pace, agility and vertical leap. Strong overhead and has a terrific work ethic in games as a lead-up forward. Is a long penetrating kick and has the tools to play well in defence. Younger brother of Cat Jordan.
Saunders: Averaged 23 disposals in 12 matches for the Falcons, plus an impressive five tackles a game.
Pierce: An exciting young ruckman with good endurance and the ability to take a nice overhead mark. Has genuine football smarts, good tap work and can provide a tall mobile target. Has shown he can also go forward on occasions and be effective. His leadership and football character are excellent. Played in four of five games for Vic Country at this year’s under-18 championships.

Could be that we are going to "Make Do" in 2013 and grab Mitch Brown next year !!damienc wrote:Wright = defender

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
Re: New Players
Don't really know
Gartlett and Membrey stand out given their performances/talent
The solid defender, forgot his name.... With the good kick....
Graham??
I think Membrey though will be 'the one that got away' like Darling

Re: New Players
Tom Lee has already played as a defender, not very well though apparently. But maybe they are going to convert Tom to a fullback.

Tom Lee is the same as Wilkes, shouldn't play anywhere but near goal. I think Lever is the only long term KPB we have with Blake the interim. I would look at cutting some rookies and getting a mature one in the preseason draft. Justin Hardy or the big tassie boy.

Re: New Players
I'm not sure. But the fact they didn't draft a KPD or a mature age one makes me think they already have it organised for 2014.clarky449 wrote:Doubt Brown will be here in 2014, and you shouldnt be so sure.8856brother wrote:Lever and Ferg and Brown in 2014.damienc wrote:Wright = defender

I sincerely hope it's not Blake, but I'm happy with our new drafted players.SainterK wrote:Appears it will be Blake?

Unless Fisher takes them again most of the time, I don't like that either.

Fisher is the ONLY player on our list who can here and now play on goof key forwards and do well.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....

Re: New Players
Nobody has mentioned Ferguson. He is now taller than the 194 he is listed as. Although more likely for CHB than FB.
Re: New Players
I love this s***. This guy ticks absolutely every box! Except that somehow he slipped to pick 75. What could the downside possibly be? Has he only got one arm?damienc wrote:Pierce: An exciting young ruckman with good endurance and the ability to take a nice overhead mark. Re: New Players
McEvoy, Hickey, Pierce, all vying for Ruck is good sense.
plus Stanley and Pierce could switch positions by the sound of it.
Can White or Lee or Stanley be the next Reiwoldt? White seems most likely. There's a Fevola alert riding faintly in my head, dunno why.
don't like sound of the dude with iffy kicking skills, but must mean the rest is superb.
Who knows? No big names was surprising, but I'll suspend judgment for a few years.

Agree. Blake is good chb, but not a last line type of player. We will have to go with Fisher unless Simpkin comes on very, very quicklysaintsRrising wrote:SainterK wrote:

Re: New Players
If you look at what the Saint recruiters have said we have gone for pace, endurance and athleticism. Young players who will replace aging stars. The big emphasis was on good character. I guess that is why we didn't take Garlett. Shame because he really does have the X factor in my view. That is not to say I disrespect the decisions that have been made. But we, along with a lot of clubs I have to say, overlooked some really talented kids so i guess there must have been compelling reasons.
Re: New Players
We took four Victorians and only one interstater, Murdoch from SA. That's a pretty important factor as well, given recent experiences across the competition...damienc wrote:But we, along with a lot of clubs I have to say, overlooked some really talented kids so i guess there must have been compelling reasons.
