Our Marquee player?
The Age had an article on the legues marquee players and had Saints as Sam Fisher with the only alternative N Riewoldt. I would have Roo as our true marquee player with lenny Dal and then maybe Fisher. it's not that i don't rate fisher, he's just too humble and inconspicuous to be a marquee. Am I off course or where do we see our marquees these days, Goddard was probably number 3 before leaving.
so my list would be....
Roo
Lenny
Dal
Fisher
where do you have them?

In terms of earnings this season, NDS could potentially be number 1?gringo wrote:The Age had an article on the legues marquee players and had Saints as Sam Fisher with the only alternative N Riewoldt. The list changes for 2025 have begun, always an interesting time for an avid supporter.

I thought it was the figure head type bigger than the club type who promotes the club beyond normal playing role type of thing.dragit wrote:What are the requirements for marquee-ness?

Re: Our Marquee player?
If Saad becomes a marquee player, then surely Milne is one now?
Seems like a marquee player is a gun player with special marketing potential… usually a mid or power forward, or someone with tricks like Natanui or Rioli.
Stanley has the look and the tricks, can't think of anyone else at this stage under 25 YO - Lee?, hopefully Newnes, Ross or Markworth explode into game-breaking freaks.

Re: Our Marquee player?
Being the player that most non-Saints supporters would think of as our best. If that's the case then I'd go with Lenny. Chips is too low-profile, Roo hasn't starred enough recently, Dal had the photos.dragit wrote:What are the requirements for marquee-ness?

If it's outside the cap; the one we have to pay the most to.bergholt wrote:Being the player that most non-Saints supporters would think of as our best. If that's the case then I'd go with Lenny. It's obviously Riewoldt. Who will it be beyond him is the no-more-than-six-hundred-thousand dollar question.
