We should have contacted Essendon earlier regarding Hooker; you can't blame him if he was contracted and didn't want to go to Perth with little time to think about it.

Yeah, Hookers fault that he didn't want to commit professional suicide and spend the next 2-3 years in the WAFL playing as a backup.

Just as an aside saintertinsydney,
I really hope Goddard doesn't do anything like that to us, in a game that really counts, while he's wearing that stinking red sash.

Re: It's all Hooker's fault
I hope in years to come, when we have solved our FB problem by alternate means, we may actually come to thank Mr Hooker for his actions here.
Re: It's all Hooker's fault
Ditto. I can see it now, Brown does another knee and gets delisted, Hooker plays his career out in the VFL and Lever, stung by criticism that Saints have no FBs decides to put on 15kg of pure muscle over summer and wins rising star award to solve all our problems!Dr Spaceman wrote:I hope in years to come, when we have solved our FB problem by alternate means, we may actually come to thank Mr Hooker for his actions here.

Re: It's all Hooker's fault
Can anyone see Khan Haratuku playing back? He looked good as a forward/ ruck at Frangers this season and actually surprised me by how far he's come. He was always pretty big but he looks mature now. He's the right age and if he could just plant himself at the other end and outmuscle his opponents might be that 4th round gem.

Pretty unprofessional of Watters to mention this in public I think. Bit much expecting a contracted player from another club to move, cause we need a FB.

It is what it is.....blame won't change the fact we have a short defence....
onward...to the draft....providing we dump some more list cloggers...

Re: It's all Hooker's fault
1st one to mention it was Browns manager just after the deal couldnt get done, then West Coast mentioned it, so i guess we can blame Watters for all those guys as well?dragit wrote:Pretty unprofessional of Watters to mention this in public I think. Facts will do instead of making it up as you go along.
Glad we didnt get Brown for the price, but our options were/are very limited for big FB's.
I am looking forward to seeing how the rest of the draft pans out instead of bagging all and sundry at our club, like alot of armchair critics do on this forum. I can see exactly why these unpublished critics havent got jobs at football clubs.
If people dont like the club go follow the dees or someone.
Re: It's all Hooker's fault
Sorry mate but thats not entirely true. I believe we had the Hooker deal, then when that fell through we went with the other option with 25 & 26 on the table. Watters said they tried numerous options so the rumour we also offered CJ could also be true. I dare say he is surplus to our needs anyway.mohannair wrote:Good Hooker refused otherwise we would have parted with Cripps, Pick 25 & Pick 26. I think it is a big price for Brown.
I dare say Hooker refusing to play WAFL until Glass retires could be the best thing that he will ever do do in his career...

I didn't hear browns manager or WCE, I heard Watters... At any rate, I don't think it's great that any of them single out Hooker. Expecting a bloke from another club to move interstate to solve our FB issues is a bit much.
Think you might need a surgeon to recover you head. Cheer up champ...
