That's about right. How many games do you think he'll play for WC next year? I'd say no more than 7-8. There's no obvious spot for him. He was okay for us, pacey but average disposal. He was never going to be an A grade player.ace wrote:West Coast screwed us.
Cripps for pick 41 and an uprade of pick 46 to pick 44, just 2 places.
That means that Cripps has been valued as a pick 39

Bit off there. We have just under 365 days to get Brown - for the 2014 season.

Best we could have hoped for.
Uncontracted players can effectively go to whichever club wants them ... as Luke Ball was the first to prove.
The lesson is: Don't allow required players to remain unsigned as without a contract they are worth nothing to St Kilda.

However another take could be...,
when you factor in that the uncontracted Cripps could have just walked to the draft, the E-girls pick him with a late draft pick, and we get nothing...
then unless I'm missing something, we not only got something for (effectively) nothing, but we did damn well.
Well done Pelican and team. And maybe the E-girl's relented a bit, seeing as they actually didn't have to give us anything to get Cripps...?

Good enough.
At least they didn't give up stupid picks for Brown.
Sensible trading considering the eagles lack of want to consider trading Brown.

Who I am to begrudge a kid wanting to move back home?
Could of been a bit more flexible perhaps in being open to either WA based club, but I don't know his history with Ross so best not judge.

Re: Cripps Traded
Trading with the Eagles for Brown is like dealing with a 16yo ex girlfriend- "If he doesn't want to be with me you cant have him either" - why clubs want to keep players that don't want to be there is beyond me.

Pretty sure they wanted him otherwise they would have traded him.

He will probably get more opportunity this year and fall back in love, and be offered a better contract...

I mean who is the best FB in the WAFL, SANFL, VFL etc that is not on an AFL list?
Jason Blake has been told he is a required player.
He will be offered a one year contract if he wants to continue playing.
Raph Clarke and Nicholas Winmar are both likely to be cut from the senior list when List Lodgement No1 takes place on Wednesday 31 October.
That would clear space for all 4 second round draft picks (25, 26, 41 & 44) to be activated and allow 2 rookies to be permanently upgraded in the national draft.

Good!
No big loss.... Morton, Cripps, Hill.... Some hard nuts there
He'll be playing next to the guy we should have taken..... Least if he left after 2 we would have got something from him, and then plenty in return
