Four second round picks

Four second round picks
Round one: zero picks
Round two: 25, 26, 41, 44
Round three: zero picks
Round four: 77
Round five: 95
So most likely we'll use all four second round picks, 77 will be used on upgrading Dunell and that'll be it?

Re: Four second round picks
Easily our best position in the draft for a long time, despite not having a first-rounder.
Particularly if this is a deep draft.
We have a real chance to get some quality young kids, particularly with 25 & 26.
It's a positive.

Not too bad at all with Lee and Hickey already on boardLegendary wrote:Easily our best position in the draft for a long time, despite not having a first-rounder.

Raph and Blake are in trouble and they could downgrade Winmar. Does that give us enough if we promote one rookie?
Re: Four second round picks
If we use all four picks and promote Dunell then we need five spots. Currently it's like this:WinnersOnly wrote:Who gets delisted if we use all four picks?
OUT: Cripps, Crocker, Goddard, Peake, Polo, Archer (r)
IN: Dennis-Lane, Hickey, Lee
Five out, three in which leaves two spare spot. We need five spare spots so three have to go. The first two might be Blake and Clarke - despite no tall defender coming in - and maybe Winmar demoted to the rookie list? Or CJ? Lever or Webster dumped or demoted to the rookie list?
It's weird - feels like we don't have that much depth and yet it's tight for spots on the list.

OUT:
Peake
Polo
Crocker
Goddard
Cripps
IN:
Lee
Hickey
TDL
2 spots available with Blake and Clarke still not offered a contract, so I'd assume both will be delisted so that we can use 25,26,41,44 in the draft. Possibly one more delisting to upgrade Dunell or Curren.

Re: Four second round picks
I would think Blake would have to stay as we still do not have a big backman yet and with the salary cap bonus for veterans basically if Blake was on $120,000 for the season it would only count as $8000 on the TPP , where as a rookie would be around $40 -$60 K min on the cap space.
Clarke gone, Winmar rookied

From another thread.
Top 10 are all potential guns
Pick 11-30 not much difference between them all potential 100+ gamers
Pick 31-50 all potential 50+ gamers
51+ project players, mature players and long shots
Re: Four second round picks
But there's not enough spots to use all our picks then. Re: Four second round picks
With Goddard gone, I would hope any decision would not need to be based on the TPP surely the one bright spot in his leaving is it must have left some space in the cap.

Re: Four second round picks
We probably saved a fair bit of salary cap by not getting Brown.
Can somebody explain what happened to pick 57? Why dont we have it now?

Re: Four second round picks
How does the veteran list rule work? How many veterans, under the new rule, can be "outside" the list?
57 went to Gold Coast as part of the Hickey deal.

Fahren Ray is staying with the Saints. Pretty sure he is contracted.

He wont sign with us. he already has.
Re: Four second round picks
We only had 38 players on the senior list last year - but we could have had 40. There's your other two picks.bergholt wrote:But there's not enough spots to use all our picks then. Still leaves us a choice of two of these...
#44, Blake, upgrade Dunell.
I'd like to keep Blake as FB depth... but I'd prefer to upgrade Dunell.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...

Do we have to formally de-list him then pick him up again on the rookie list?
Would allow us to keep Blake AND upgrade Dunell AND use #44.

Re: Four second round picks
Suely CURREN deserves to be upgrade also - its time to get AFL games into him so he is ready to take over from JONES in 2014.bergholt wrote:Round one: zero picks
Round two: 25, 26, 41, 44

So most likely we'll use all four second round picks, 77 will be used on upgrading Dunell and that'll be it?

How exactly does this happen? Winmar is a contracted senior list player for next year.plugger66 wrote:WinnersOnly wrote:Who gets delisted if we use all four picks?
