Re: Saints seek ruck options
Bit too much like big Ben , and with the new rules would prefer a ruck with more pace and agility. Quite injury prone .
But I guess we need to keep our options open and put more pressure on gold coast, would be better than nothing. Gets good hit out figures when he does play.

Hope so. Fits the Sandy ability profile and the cant play anywhere but the ruck profile. Does he get injured enough though? And is he old enough?

Re: Saints seek ruck options
Martin would be much better option than this completely useless, overpaid cabbage
Geez us get the Martin deal done - there's talk Lions could possibly get him for pick in 50's.... I reckon that's a steal as he's versatile and has played good footy
Few Melb mates rate him and don't understand the lack of love for him.... but paying overs for Warnock ain't the answer

Re: Saints seek ruck options
If Martin comes cheap I'd be concentrating on getting him (if I was a recruiter and if his body checks out okay) as he offers a lot around the ground.
Hitouts amount to nothing much (see the WCE clearance stats for proof) - it's the around the ground work that counts !

Re: Saints seek ruck options
Agreed. Martin would offer a lot more versatility around the ground & could plug holes when not needed in the ruck. I think Brisbane is the front runner for his services though.

Re: Saints seek ruck options
Then it's our fault if we let him go and if he comes cheap.savatage wrote:Agreed. Martin would offer a lot more versatility around the ground & could plug holes when not needed in the ruck. I think Brisbane is the front runner for his services though.
Why pay more for potential ? (what''s the fuss with Hickey ? )
Martin averaged 17 possessions per game plus !
Warnock = 7 possessions per game.
Re: Saints seek ruck options
Warnock is s*** but I think Hickey is far better around the ground & has shown he can kick a goal when resting up forward.

Oh no, that means pick 13 for Warnock!!St Ick wrote:Never, repeat never gets old! But isn't Warnock contracted?plugger66 wrote:Hope so. Fits the Sandy ability profile and the cant play anywhere but the ruck profile. Does he get injured enough though? And is he old enough?
I love this club
Re: Saints seek ruck options
We would be absolutely mad to give pick 25 for hickey, or chase warnock who will be on decent carrot.
Why don't we just chase Martin?
He will come cheap, with the new rules, will be an assest, can contest around the ground, or go forward.
We only need him as a second ruck/back up ruck.
He might spend time at sandy, so why on earth would be pay with pick 25 for someone?
if Mac goes down, Martin can hold his own in the ruck (did so when Jamar went down) and then stanley can also get to work in there.
Its absolutely crazy to pay overs for warnock or give up pick 25 when we can get martin so cheaply

Re: Saints seek ruck options
I agree with Saintjake. Although I would still pick up one of the promising ruckmen in the draft to develop for the future. We found last season we did not have enough ruckmen on the list.

Re: Saints seek ruck options
Hopefully they are just chucking up names so we don't look so desperste for hickey - but Agree someone like Martin who can do more than just ruck would be a much better bet than warnock

Throughout this whole process, many of the cool heads on here have calmed us all by encouraging us to trust in the people that we have to get the job done, they know a lot more than us arm chair critics, they'll see this through..
If we go anywhere near Warnock, I'll know for sure that those running the club truly have NFI about what makes a good footballer, and will be suspicious in their motives that they may actually want to destroy this club from within. He is a dud of the highest order, and it will be a move worse than drafting Monkhurst all those years ago... A horrific case of history repeating, again and again....

Yes there might be a fair few of us apologising to barks4evaSobraz wrote:Throughout this whole process, many of the cool heads on here have calmed us all by encouraging us to trust in the people that we have to get the job done, they know a lot more than us arm chair critics, they'll see this through..

Confident we won't need to however.

He may not want to come to us. How do people even know what is being discussed at the trade table. Anyway still dont get this comes cheap stuff. We now have a list of 91 because we are happy with 50 players if they come cheap.

Re: Saints seek ruck options
Cannot see the obsession with keeping 13 and 25 to use in a lucky dip they call the Draft. Use 13 for Hickey, Boston and 26 then 25 and 26 for Brown. Fixes our immediate deficiencies then upgrade Curren and Dunnel. If Hickey and Brown were in the draft we would use those picks for them anyway.

What sort of banal imbecile keeps saying "don't you understand posters on here don't know the inner workings of the club" without realising it's a tragic footy fan forum that lives off rumour, innuendo and opinion (informed or otherwise)plugger66 wrote:samoht wrote:Then it's our fault if we let him go and if he comes cheap.savatage wrote:Agreed. It's like u keep spewing the same Shute wanting a different outcome - isn't that some sort of madness?
