Andy Otten?

Post: # 1275507Post sax »

The article in the HS today regarding Tippet's exit from Adelaide, eludes to the fact "a" or "some" Crows may have to be cut.
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-ne ... 6499608067

Andy Otten is one player mentioned. He is a very capable KPD, listed at 194cm & 92kg, 23yo from Victoria. He's played 47 games since debuting in 2008.

Avg per game: 17.3 disp, 5.3 marks, 2.3 tackles

Unfortunately he missed all of 2010 with an ACL & hasn't been able to regain his spot with the emergence of Luke Thompson & Daniel Talia plus the consistent form of Ben Rutten.

There is no doubt to the fact we are in desperate need for a KPD. Otten is one I think we should target.

Hopefully Pelchan at least asks some questions of the Crows.

Thoughts?

Otten is a very good player just hasn't been able to align his fitness with opportunity - would be a good get for a late pick.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

He is a bit of a Sam Gilbert in the sense that while he has the height he doesnt play tall. I'd happily move Gilbert on for big compo to GWS for Otten to replace. If the price/compo was right... would have preferred Luke Thompson but he re-signed...

He's not a KPP despite his height.

Yeah to me he can't play tall and doesn't even look that height. I thought he must be about 190cm tops. He can play though and would be better than some that came along late in the draft you would think.

Probably similar to the Gilbert type.

My understanding is Otten is a required player, had made noises of wanting out but has agreed to stay due to being selected in finals!

Maybe this year?

As some have stated earlier, not a KPP despite his height.

Having said that I'd have a good look at him if the price was right. He had a gem of a rookie year and was slated for big things. I think he's got a future. The younger players can't be expected to rebound from serious knee injuries in the same fashion as a Len-dog. Just not going to happen.

Like him a lot. Has a good injury profile. May be a bit young though.

Geelong got the plural.

Can't be worth much if it's just the one of them.
