Koby Stevens
Why aren't we chasing this guy? or are we? Club has stated they want a midfielder - seems Eagles supporters really rate him.

Re: Koby Stevens
Sounds perfect when measured up against most others mentioned on here in the last few weeks.
Re: Koby Stevens
I just rewatched the last quarter of the Saints/Eagles game. Stevens came on as sub so I made an effort to focus on his game. He laid a tackle on Joey then Lenny and they were absolute quality, made better by the fact the second one stopped a rampaging Lenny in his tracks. He looks very strong through the core, kept his feet well in a pack a bit like the way Josh Kennedy does. He also used it by foot with both feet quite well. I'm going by one quarter of footy but I really liked what I saw... if we keep Ray, then we should definitely target Stevens before Jacobs... straight swap for Cripps or involve him as steak knives in a Brown deal... I really do think that Stevens is the real deal!

Thanks for the report St Ick.
Re: Koby Stevens
Herald Sun trade blog saying Stevens to Essendon is a done deal (via a reader comment so unconfirmed rumour)
Re: Koby Stevens
afl.com.au has him making a decision within 24 hours as to the club he wants to go to. There is just something about him that I really rate. Hopefully he comes to us, if its for Cripps and a pick upgrade then I wouldn't be shattered... still very young and promising in a Jobe Watson or Josh Kennedy way...

Re: Koby Stevens
Eagles supporters think the fact that they have picked Tom Swift over Stevens during the year suggests that the Eagles don't really rate him.
Re: Koby Stevens
Fair call re Swift but isn't Swift more an outside mid? Stevens is more an inside mid who was competing for spots with Selwood x2, Priddis & Kerr.

Re: Koby Stevens
I am surprised by the interest in Stevens because from what I have seen of him his disposal is definately below par.
He is a big bodied strong midfielder but that is all. I make him nothing more than a poorer version of Armo.

Re: Koby Stevens
Haven't seen a lot of him myself, but from the fiew clips that I've seen he seems to prefer handballing than kicking. I tend to agree with the call that he is a poorer version of Armo. I wouldn't be giving up more than a 4th round pick for him myself. Highly unlikely the eagles will be happy with that, but I'd be happy to pass on him. We are in desperate need of quality mids. If he was a qualty mid, I'm sure the eagles would have squeezed him into their line up more consistently.

This for sure, behind those 4 players. Stevens is an inside clearance type, on what little we've seen and read. Saints don't need anymore outside players IMO.
No Contract, No contact
Re: Koby Stevens
As much as I like Ledger, he reminds me of a Barlow or Magner. Yes, he fights hard but just slams it on the boot. I think Steven is ahead of him. Strange that I don't think he is signed but hasn't been mentioned anywhere in trade month. Can anyone confirm his contract status?
I appreciate that we have a few inside mids, but the loss of Lenny will be HUGE when he leaves so we need probably 4 or more to go through our midfield rotation. That might be Armo, Ross, Steven and Ledger... but I'm more than happy to add Stevens to that mix...

Re: Koby Stevens
We dodged a bullet here folks. Stevens is a crab and wouldn't get a game with us. Curren and Ledger have shown more as inside mids in the VFL than Stevens has in the WAFL. I doubt we were ever interested TBH. He was just being linked to us cos WCE are interested in Cripps and it seemed like a straightforward swap between the two.

Re: Koby Stevens
3 way trade!!!!!
Cripps + StK pick 53 to WCE
Stevens to WBD
WCE pick 38 + WBD pick 41 to StK.
This would leave us with four 2nd rounders before Hickey trade!!!!
