Father Son

Post: # 1272349Post SaintTom »

With Daniher going to the Dons, Viney to the Dees and Hunter going to the Dogs, and with the talk in some other threads about players like Ablett being father son picks...it has me thinking. I'm sure this has been talked about in years past, but does anyone know if we have any potential father son picks coming? Hard to tell if they're too young whether they'll be worthwhile, but are there sons of former players in their teens who are tearing it up for their age group and look likely to be worthwhile drafting in a few years?

I recall reading that Frankie Peckett has 5 boys.

Wasn't much good though.

Would we have won a second flag if there was no father son rule?

OK spill the beans. How come I have never heard of a former son of the red, white and black being a little more comfortable in a pink chiffon number with a frilly gusset?

Sam Loewe is Buckets boy, there is also Connor Harvey, Max Houghton has a son, Schneider has a son (who is not eligible for swans as did not play enough games), Franky Peckett has a couple of boys. That's for starters so our time will come PROVIDING the AFL does not change the rules.

Guess we are all waiting for Harves son Connor to age a little more and hope that footy is his bent. Tho he might be like dad and his great uncle and be handy cricketer too.

A few season ago (maybe 3) Alan Sidebottom came to one of the Western Saints function. On our famous double decker bus ride to Subi.,Alan was telling us about his lad. Said he was showing a lot of promise I think he was about 15-16 years old. They lived down the Sth West somewhere, Alan was dirty that the AFL had changed the father/son rule to 100 games as his boy wouldn't be eligible for father/son to Saints, and could go anywhere....... if he was good enough to get drafted to AFL.

assuming it's still the 100 game level for eligibility
Rice eligible- 116 games
Sidebottom Not- 55 games

last I heard Connor was still more keen on cricket

Max's boys are only young- much younger than Sam Loewe
Frankie's boys most likely
Gilbert McAdams boy good but not eligible.

we could be waiting for Tyson Milne

Our Grandfather Grandson pick was good.....but he left us for the Pies.

Last father sons in Chad and Stevie both had issues. Chad was suspended for a most unusual offense....and Stevie was just a nutter off the field.
