Gilbo to GC Trade
I am thinking the 13/Gilbo for Caddy/Hickey trade would be a real win:win for both parties.
Gilbo could really help the GC. He is a good tall experienced and hardened player who basically never gets injured. Also a local boy.
And we have a developing direct replacement (tall running back) in Ferguson.

Re: Gilbo to GC Trade
No way. I see that as if we were giving up pick 13 for Hickey.
If Gilbert were part of the trade it would be our mid-second round pick I'd be giving up at the most, and even then i would be a little concerned.

Maybe they can throw us in a late pick as well then. We need our min 3 picks in the draft.shmic_s wrote:No way. I see that as if we were giving up pick 13 for Hickey.

Are you sure about that? Anyway why would we get rid of Gilbert. Werent you the one who said we lack that age group. You really swing with the wind Con.

Unless like Goddard with the Don(s), and we get an offer that we can't refuse, I don't want us parting with our first round compensation pick. Best available young player IMO.Con Gorozidis wrote:Maybe they can throw us in a late pick as well then. We need our min 3 picks in the draft.shmic_s wrote:No way. Re: Gilbo to GC Trade
I do like Gilbo and do like his age yes. But willing to make an exception to get a ruck and another mid - because we have a lot of defenders and I rate Ferguson as a replacement.plugger66 wrote:Con Gorozidis wrote:Maybe they can throw us in a late pick as well then. So age doesnt matter. And Ferguson isnt a replacement for at least 2 to 3 years.Con Gorozidis wrote:I do like Gilbo and do like his age yes. Re: Gilbo to GC Trade
Gilbert is probably more valuable with out Goddard there as he carries the ball from defence to attack, we probably need to develop someone as that elite running back to go with him though as there is more emphasis on getting the ball out cleanly these days and with out Goddards kicking as a get out of jail card we need some ball carriers. Dal back again maybe, Caddy goes into the centre?

Pluggs if you are going to hold me to account for previous posts - thats fine. But you can also hold me to account for things I got right.plugger66 wrote:So age doesnt matter. I said all along Pelchen would go very hard for KPPs in their early 20s. Many on here told me i was an idiot and that we would go for 'best kids available' in the draft regardless of position.
Certainly - at this stage - looks like I was right on the money.

Re: Gilbo to GC Trade
We can probably wait an extra year for Ferg as long as Fisher is still going.plugger66 wrote: So age doesnt matter. And Ferguson isnt a replacement for at least 2 to 3 years.
Plus Siposs looking good for the 1/4 back role straight away next year.

Who's to say that our club don't think that Caddy is the best available young player? He's only 20.shmic_s wrote:Unless like Goddard with the Don(s), and we get an offer that we can't refuse, I don't want us parting with our first round compensation pick. Re: Gilbo to GC Trade
Caddy hasn't been in the system that long and people should understand he will be a good player but most guys take years to develop, Cotchin had a break out season and he was drafted in 2007 or 2008 and I think Dangerfield was around the same year from memory. Thats a fair wait so don't expect anything much more from our new draftees unless we luck onto a freak.
i think Lee was drafted the same year as Tom Lynch and he's still developing but he looks as close to a ready made as we've seen for a while.

Re: Gilbo to GC Trade
If that is the case, I'd be happy for them to go for it. Pick 13 for Caddy.SaintTom wrote:Who's to say that our club don't think that Caddy is the best available young player? But Gilbert and pick 13, for Caddy and Hickey. Were paying overs IMO.

Re: Gilbo to GC Trade
I wouldn't offer any more than 13 for caddy (gold coast saying they want 2 first rounders is ridiculous) therefore you re saying Gilbert for hickey . Gilbert was pretty much back to his best in the second half of this year. Tough, runs all day and kicking improved . Was up there for having a bounce and hitting someone on the chest inside 50. He's worth more than that.Con Gorozidis wrote:I am thinking the 13/Gilbo for Caddy/Hickey trade would be a real win:win for both parties.

Re: Gilbo to GC Trade
Gilbo is valuable IMO and not to be traded - we should no longer consider bringing Caddy in to the club, what GCS is asking for is fantasy stuff - he's done nothing to justify the hype or money!

Gilbo's second half of the season was back to his 2010 form .
I would like to see him continue this next year !
