Re: Stefan Martin
198cm is undersized for the ruck. How's his leap?
Are we waiting for a saviour?
I'm so sick of waiting!
I've been waiting my whole life!
This is a new day!

Big leap!Little Dozer wrote:198cm is undersized for the ruck. How's his leap?
Would be a perfect foil for us i feel.
Would give McEvoy a good chop out. Whilst being able to be a force up forward
Would allow Stanley to be a permanent forward.
And god forbid McEvoy went down, Is more the capable of being the number 1 ruckman (did it when Jamar was injured)
Id jump all over him.
Would be cheap to!!
This is the type of player Sydney would pick up and make a winner
Re: Stefan Martin
I reckon that if we can snag Martin cheap and get Hickey with our second round pick then our ruck stocks will be very well looked after for the next 5 years at least.

Re: Stefan Martin
Would be ideal backup. Solid, mature body in the ruck and is athletic enough to do a job down back. Not sure he has the smarts to be a forward but we've got enough immediate depth there with Roo, Stanley, Kosi and WIlkes.
Would love to get him for a player swap. I'd definitely offer any of Jones, Gram, Raph and Winmar to see if Melbourne would take any of them. I wouldn't part with our second round draft pick, maybe third though.

Re: Stefan Martin
Stefan Martin good replacement for Kosi. Wouldnt spend big on him though. Straight swap for Faz or a medium pick.

Re: Stefan Martin
Agreed. Would be loathe to give up a pick for him though. Dollar for Dollar, Faz is better value. Melbourne would be winning in a straight swap.Con Gorozidis wrote:Stefan Martin good replacement for Kosi. Wouldnt spend big on him though. Straight swap for Faz or a medium pick.
Ray would play every game next year in melbourne's midfield.

Re: Stefan Martin
Played a few games with Stef in the U/19s at OHAFC. Huge leap, very athletic, can take a mark and has learned a few of the nuances of the game in recent years too...
The League B&F (like the Brownlow) was done on a 3-2-1 basis. Stef polled 29/30 votes. Smashed it. He would rove his own ruckwork it was ridiculous.

Re: Stefan Martin
I'm not really a fan of Steve Martin.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Stefan Martin
Yeah, but he'd only play eight or ten at the Saints so to us he's not worth much. The best trades are like this - when a player is worth f***-all to one club but a fair bit to another - that way a deal can get done which is win-win.bigred wrote:Agreed. Re: Stefan Martin
Wouldn't swap him for Ray. I would for Jones, Raph, Winmar or anyone else of that nature. Maybe he can be worked into that imaginary trade for Frawley. Frawley and Martin for 13 and Ray.
Re: Stefan Martin
Martin aint no star but he is a KPP and a ruckman which we need. Ray is HBF or winger who struggles to get game. Footy is a business and losing an 8 game player from this year to maybe get a player that could be what we need depending on other trades makes more sense that just about every trade that has been put on this site to date. If it doesnt work out then big deal we have lost an 8 game player that seems to want to leave anyway. At best for a trade not involving a player we could get a third rounder so we have lost a pick 40 something. Again big deal. If this trade is even slightly possible then hopefully the club go for it.

Re: Stefan Martin
He is another we should have drafted when he nominated - he was recommended to the saints by Stew Loewe and they chose not to select him. Our history at the draft is again proven to be very poor!
SAINTS another day older another day closer to the Holy Grail!

Can you tell us all those nominated that we didnt draft that didnt succeed?
Re: Stefan Martin
Wasn't Tom Lynch recommended to the Saints by Loewey? How are the recruiters supposed to tell the difference between the ones he gets right and the ones he gets wrong?WinnersOnly wrote:He is another we should have drafted when he nominated - he was recommended to the saints by Stew Loewe and they chose not to select him.
