Shock : Thomas pots Saints over Goddard
I thought he was bowing out of the media ?
Thommo just can't help himself...
"Former St Kilda coach Grant Thomas has hit out at the club for letting star utility Brendon Goddard walk to Essendon as a free agent.
''Great clubs don't lose great people,'' Thomas tweeted this evening.
"On the surface it seems Saints were happy to release him. I'm somewhat perplexed."

With all respect Grant go f*** yourself. All clubs lose players we have finally refused to not be bent over.

Re: Shock : Thomas pots Saints over Goddard
He is the dickbrain that started our whole contract-cap crisis… Signing a bunch of 21 year olds up on 600+ contracts…
If he was still at the club, BJ would have got his 800,000 deal no probs

Re: Shock : Thomas pots Saints over Goddard
Grant has a great track record. Signing up Luke Penny for 5 years only for him to retire the next year & many many other contract blunders in his brief role as contract guy!

Well no one can tell anyone else how to feel about what's happened.clarky449 wrote:He has left the media. As he says, is is simply a supporters, he cant help it if media publish his stuff..
We're all affected differently and we all have our own views.
No one is right; no one is wrong.

What did he say that was really bad. Surely he can express an opinion. You just did. At least he was polite about it.

Re: Shock : Thomas pots Saints over Goddard
Love your work in Fotty Classified GT but this is a plain stupid comment. We need Champion team not a team with several champions. This is whta breeds success not big player packages. Good to see the club has finally recognised this. Disappointing that St. Kilda is the club, once again who loses a key player due to the culture, despite many others hinting at change they actually didnt follow through.philtee wrote:I thought he was bowing out of the media ?

Watch the FA, I dount big time players will move other than Goddard.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

OMG - I agree with GT too!
This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

Its not what he said its how he says it and why he says it. Just come out and say its a shame he left but the club did what it had to.plugger66 wrote:CURLY wrote:With all respect Grant go f*** yourself. All clubs lose players we have finally refused to not be bent over.

Re: Shock : Thomas pots Saints over Goddard
I like GT but he should be the last person in the world handing out list management advice. He actually handled all the contracts himself as coach, refusing the assistance of any dedicated list managers or other staff...and he did a terrible job. As previously mentioned, long-term contracts to Penny and Hamill put us under enormous pressure in the following years and it is lucky that our core group WAS so loyal that they stuck around on smaller salaries in the hope of winning a flag.

GT is emotional over it, that's all.
Curb your enthusiasm - you’re a St.Kilda supporter!!

Even if he disagrees with that.

Re: Shock : Thomas pots Saints over Goddard
GT can't help himself, his autocratic leadership cost the club plenty including his friendship with Butterss. Tell you what Grant that nice home of yours in Moule Avenue that Rod helped you buy and took you to court over for not paying him back, how about being the good samaritan and donating that portion to the club as a payback for your numerous stuffups. Arrogant hipocrite.

Don't get all sooky and defensive
What he said was absolutely spot on..... We rolled over IMO
The last GREAT stand we took..... Luke Ball

Didn't GT used to do the deals with Waldron !
If they were still around the club , we may well have been kicked out of the league .
