Hawthorn are a great team but there's something about them... under finals pressure (prelim stage) they just don't go on with it. They fell apart against Collingwood when they should have won last year, barely got over Adelaide when they shd have won comfortably and then today. Their game to lose.

I must admit, I'm jealous of Hawthorn's success. To think that they also had only one Premiership before the 1971 GF - and now have a swag of them - makes me sick.

It still annoys me how they conquered that unbeatable Geelong team in 2008 and the following year we couldn't.

But heck, if we get a good quality and closely fought game of footy on Saturday, I won't be complaining about who wins or loses.

It annoys me more that Geelong conquered that unbeatable St. Kilda team in 2009! Same issue as Geelong had the previous year, inaccuracy in front of goal. If both teams kicked better in the first half the eventual winners may not have "got a sniff".

BEMUSED rather than outraged would describe West Coast chief executive Trevor Nisbett's reaction.

Three times he has seen players lured east to a Sydney side with a salary cap boosted by a 9.8 per cent cost of living allowance.

Talls Mark Seaby and Matt Spangher wanted more opportunity, but the cash Sydney splashed on ruckman Jason Ball helped seal his deal.

The Sydney allowance is about player retention and cost of living pressures.

Yet Sydney has 10 players on its list lured from other clubs. Some were attracted by huge deals, such as ex-Geelong ruckman Shane Mumford.

When West Coast spoke to the AFL about skyrocketing Perth property and rent prices, its submission for its own salary cap allowance was basically laughed at.

Greater Western Sydney also has been awarded an AFL-funded cost of living subsidy, plus up to $1 million more to spend on an expanded playing list.

It means the Giants are entitled to pay about $11.3 million in 2012 compared with $9.4 million for clubs without special assistance....

Based on the bizarre 'costs of living' logic (term 'logic' used loosely), Geelong and the Adelaide sides should have their caps reduced. (Though to be fair, the Adelaide sides could then claim the cut back again, and then some, as a hardship allowance for having to live in Adelaide. )

I mean, fair dinkum, the average AFL wage is ~$267K p.a. Now I can't speak for the Swines boys, but I know that I personally could feed, clothe myself, support my little habit (whoops, wrong club ), fuel-up the V8 ute, put a nice roof over my head, on that sort of money...

The Swines are an artifical plastic creation propped up by the AFL, not a real club with nearly 140 years of history, tradition and soul.

Bloods! That's all hype and crap,

Sports aren't generally fixed by the ruling body.

The ruling body normally tries to stop match fixing.
