Wellingham for 13?
If Goddard goes - how would people feel about using pick 13 on Wellingham?
My answer is a yes given the age profile of our list and the need to get more quality in the the 22-26 yo core group.
Spend 12 on a young gun for sure.

Re: Wellingham for 13?
No thanks Con. Wellingham is more the icing on the cake player, not the type you can build a midfield around. With pick 12 or 13 we could pick up a much better longterm player, obviously with some risks involved. No risk, no reward. I see him more as a second round pick, Filth would want more though.

Re: Wellingham for 13?
More than happy to let Pelch and his gang do their thing in regards to trading.
Having said that, I’ll be quite happy if at the end of the trade period we have not gained any players from either Essendon or Collingwood. They only seem prepared to acquire, swap or offload players when the deal is overwhelmingly in their favour.

Re: Wellingham for 13?
Was it Wellingham whom the Filth offered to us (along with Goldsack) as a part of the trade which was going to happen for Luke Ball?
If so, the irony of getting him doesn't bode too well.

Re: Wellingham for 13?
Wellinghim and Goldsack were offered to go to North Melb for a draft pick which would have been given to us is exchange for Luke Ball. Wellingham didn't want to come to St Kilda although he was happy to go to North cos Brad Scott was there (ex Pies assistant). That's what I heard.Sainternist wrote:Was it Wellingham whom the Filth offered to us (along with Goldsack) as a part of the trade which was going to happen for Luke Ball?

Re: Wellingham for 13?
Story was he wanted to go to North. Collingwood and North couldn't get the deal done. If they had've the North draft pick would have come to us to get Everitt from the Bulldogs.Sainternist wrote:Was it Wellingham whom the Filth offered to us (along with Goldsack) as a part of the trade which was going to happen for Luke Ball?

Seems Wellingham didn't want us back then and I'm happy to say the same to him this time around.

Re: Wellingham for 13?
No way! I hate the beiber wannabe. Plus he's far from a grade which is what you want from pick 12. Plus def don't want a "win win" deal with the pies. A "win loss" to them yes , but give them nothing I say.
Re: Wellingham for 13?
Rather spend #13 on Caddy
Lance or James??

Ah, I remember that we had our sights on getting Everitt.Dr Spaceman wrote:Story was he wanted to go to North. Collingwood and North couldn't get the deal done. Incredible that Wellingham wasn't interested in going to a club which had just played in a GF.
I'm guessing that since he wasn't interested then, he wouldn't be interested now.
That said, I'm superstitious about us getting former Filth players. Has there ever been one who ended up being good value? Maybe Barks' favourite recruit Mark McGough
Although, Rene Kink provided some brief moments of entertainment way back in the mid 80's.

Like Wellingham but he is a low second rounder. No way would you give up pick 13. And he isnt a true onballer.

Re: Wellingham for 13?
Not at 12.
probably not with 2nd rounder...
He is a pretty good ordinary player, as Jack Dyer might say, but not going to win you games

hahaha... it is actually John Lurie who did the vocals for the theme song for his fishing show way back in the early 90's. He does sound a bit like Leonard Cohen though.dragit wrote: Leonard Cohen will do anything for a buck these days won't he?
