If these kids are any good theyll keep this so called spud out of the side. If they warrant time in the midfield theyll get it age shouldnt matter.

You would only really take him as a back up player and hope. I can't see us getting even slightly interested- he would go ok a Melbourne or a team full of outside mids. He was a decent player once but injuries have robbed his last couple of years.

Milney interestingly talked of Curren as a future midfielder in his dinner with Milney. I wonder if he's been told he's getting off the rookie list? He has a heap of potential and looks the better of the 2 when compared with Magner and he was tearing it up at senior level.

Really?

Wont Ahmed be 23 in just over a week & Terry be 25 in January?

Yes if it costs us a high pick as backup with potential of good performances to be elevated.
Could be worse. Pick a kid that does nothing as well.

i said at the start of the season he would be a good pick up. He was ahead of Jack Riewoldt at the Tiges for ages and has the skill just needed to get some discipline.

Cripps is a good example of how just using the draft for team development is fraught with danger, especially if its your only way of list development.

Salopek would be ok I think.... we could do with a bigger body midfielder.

Sure the youngster's get priority, but you'll find that their bodies probably won't be able to keep up with footy throughout the entire season until their around 22-24ish... and injuries can quickly change things, so I think if we get him for nothing (ie a very late pick), I think we'd have done well for someone who went for pick 6.

Lets face it, usually the late picks (80+) on young players don't follow through anyway, so I'd have a crack at Salopek.

I still don't think Ledger is right yet, and Curren looks to be the next thing for us, but we're still short of mid's... esp is Cripps is leaving, I mean we loose bad on that, he was our first pick, has had a decent amount of games etc...
