$450K? You're kidding aren't you? They reckon half of Geelong's side are on $300 or less, despite many of them being dual-premiership players.
Luke had a good GF (largely due to the fact the conditions suited him greatly, which they don't most weeks), yet we only deem him worthy of playing half a game each week and he's not getting any younger. And no-one was willing to offer more than pick 25 for him, which is like pick 35 in most drafts. How does that make him worth up to $450K, when most of our side are being paid much less?

A. Because they want something for nothing!
and why shouldn't they. he is now free to a good home if he doesn't negotiate with us so he is free to go.
Melbourne would be stoked and rightly so.
And in their position I'd be expecting my Club do do exactly the same.
It's what a well run professional List Management is.
You maximize your return wherever possible.
They obviously rate him as a first round draft pick value and if they do get him with pick 1 in the PSD then they will consider they have had 4 first round picks.
in fact he is in my opinion in our best 10, 75% fit he's still in our best 22.
awesome player, awesome courage.
St Kilda tried to negotiate with Collingwood only in preference to Luke's wishes.
IMO we should have put him on the open market.
now we need our coach and management to negotiate to keep him and maintain his desire to put in a magnificent effort for st kilda like he did in the GF.
20 odd possessions in 50% game time.
his worth? definately in 300k to 450k p/a bracket.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Huge call probably ridiculous call but who cares he has gone. Nothing can be done about it.
Probably is but thats the way I see it. I couldnt see a side with both Armitage and Ball in the midfield going forward.
He only had to be worth one less point to the pies or one more to us. Reckon he had that covered. I give you the tip if we won the flag I couldnt care if Armo was playing at the pies now.
