To push forward in 2013
barring trading ( except the Goddard decision saying go and obtain a tall defender via trade/draft) the reality is from within we need to see improvements from players becoming good young kids, to regular contributors.
Our best 22 needs to include:
Cripps
Ledger
Siposs
Newnes
A side like:
B: Geary, (Big Def), Gwilt
HB: Simpkin, Fisher, Dempster
C:Gilbert, Armitage, Steven
HF: Monty, Roo, Siposs
F:Milne, Kosi, Saad
Foll: McEvoy, Dal Santo , Hayes
Int from: Cripps, Ledger, Newnes, Dunnell, Milera, Ross
Need to recruit a big defender badly and may need to be part of any Goddard trade as my guess is will leave although obviosuly if keep will be great.

Surely ahead of Kosi???BringBackMadDog wrote:Stanley has to be in our best 22 next year
The other problem here is - who gives McEvoy a chop out?
Stanley's better but not sure I wanna risk him in ruck.... Wilkes playing a Leigh Brown role??...

Re: To push forward in 2013
Kosi is gone or to sandy, Wilkes can at least play more than 1 quarter. If Kosi is in the starting 22 next year then we wont move forward. If still on the list must play sandy until his perform can warrant selection.

Re: To push forward in 2013
Stanley is a little like Taylor Walker to me big classy tall forward. I don't want to damage the roller running him through the paddock. Rhys will be an elite talent long term and should be very rarely used as an around the ground ruck. we need a backman whether it's Jackson Ferguson or what ever, just someone to be that big punch from behind defender. Dunell needs to go a step further, Geary, Steven and Armo need to go another step forward on an already solid base.
Re: To push forward in 2013
We need a Hale type IMO, good news is that Chris picked him up for the Hawks and can hopefully find something similar for us.

Re: To push forward in 2013
My bad missed Stanley Huge stuff up. Stanley in for Kosi although we need him on list IMO. Finished bad but had some good games this year and offers a bigger body than Wilkes who to me is a top up player.
Stanley needs to become a B+ grader nest year

Assuming Goddard goes, then I could see something like the following happening....
Terry Milera to Port Adelaide for Troy Chaplin
Our second round pick to West Coast for Koby Stevens
Which would leave us with 2 first round picks, a 3rd and a fourth rounder
And potentially a little $$ in the bank... though after next year with Kosi and Gram's contracts being up then I think we'll have more room to move, salary cap-wise

A small, skinny bloke (albeit with skills) who has played 14 games for a big, tall proven full-back.Richter wrote:Assuming Goddard goes, then I could see something like the following happening....

No CJ, unfortunately he'll miss too many training sessions fixated on your avatar.Raven wrote:No CJ?

Re: To push forward in 2013
Chaplin's out of contract so could enter the pre-season draft in which case PA would get nothing. He's also a restricted free agent so another club could pick him up that way. Not sure what compo Port would get for him... Maybe a 2nd rounder... Which is about what Milera is worth...The Redeemer wrote:A small, skinny bloke (albeit with skills) who has played 14 games for a big, tall proven full-back.Richter wrote:Assuming Goddard goes, then I could see something like the following happening....

Mitch Brown. 22 years old 194cm KPD and can't get a game with WC. Should be considered IMO.

Re: To push forward in 2013
He is an average key backman in a bottom 4 side that would be a walk up start in our side for a very affordable price.matrix wrote:what is the fascination with bloody chaplin

Re: To push forward in 2013
Pretty good. I was only 5 out on my original prediction but if you do some more searching you will find a post of mine part way through this season that revised our final positon between 8th and 11th. Proof that my predictions are usually pretty spot on.
With regards to Chaplin, and for mine, it's not a matter of rating him, it's a matter of thinking we need to grow our own, i.e. recruit a young guy and develop him so he is cherry ripe in about 5 years.

Re: To push forward in 2013
I do agree with the fact we need to develop our own players, however we need a tall, big bodied key defender now not in 5 years time.
I would love to think Fergerson can fill the role or we can recruit from the state comps or a lower grade for someone with experiance while we develop a key backman of our own.
If we need to trade for one id be happy with that.
