Stephen Milne
This might come under some scrutiny or even shock some others, but........
I believe Milne is in line for his 2nd All Australian in a row.
If you have a look at his stats he is currently giving the same output as he did last year. Averaging the same amount of Kicks (10), Tackles (2.3) and Goals (2.4) a game.
He is quite often the subject of much criticism on this board and quite honestly one of our most under appreciated players in our team.
He has also kicked more goals than any other small forward in the league.
Feel free to disagree with me if you want but the numbers speak for themselves.

Re: Stephen Milne
May miss out this year to Rioli or Jetta but will be close. Dempster and Milne are our only chances I would think but i doubt any this year.
Re: Stephen Milne
If he finishes strongly, could bump out Cyril who will miss the last couple.
I'm perfectly fine with him putting on a spectacle tonight...

Re: Stephen Milne
If he has a big few weeks to finish off he should be a shoe-in. Huge game for Milney tonight. We saw how well he stepped up in Roo's absence in 2010, if he can snare 4+ tonight it will go a long way towards us winning.

Re: Stephen Milne
Cyril injured for the rest of the H&A will most likely mean he misses out and Jetta plays more Wing/Half-Forward. I'd say he is good a chance, but will need a big last 3 weeks in order to sneak in.plugger66 wrote:May miss out this year to Rioli or Jetta but will be close. I think a few have him covered. His cousin, Pav, Buddy for a start.

He deserves it if he gets it.
I expected Milne's form to drop off after his superb 2011, but credit to the lil' fella, he's maintained an elite standard of performance and shows no signs of slowing down.

Re: Stephen Milne
Timely thread given I'm currently writing up a piece on Milne over his career from a fan's perspective - for my own enjoyment given that he's been my favourite player for over 10 years! I would love him to make another All-Australian, but in all honesty I'm not hopeful given how long it has taken for him to be named once- still not quite over medhurst being named over him but that's another story...
He has been much maligned but I think our Saints supporters and the AFL world in general are starting to realise what a career he has had, a shame it took them so long, but hey, underrate him at your own peril!

Re: Stephen Milne
Pav definitely. Jack hasn't been better this year. Buddy has been great, but he's missed a lot of footy. Should still make it though.plugger66 wrote:Beno88 wrote:What about Riewoldt?plugger66 wrote:May miss out this year to Rioli or Jetta but will be close. I think Roo is in the mix along with Petrie and Hawkins.

I know what you mean about Medhurts who I think suffered from injuries in his time at Collinwood. Still, Milne has been doing it year in year out since 2001. Medhrst and a couple of others like Matera had a couple of good years while Milne has had 12 good years in a difficult position. Lets not mention all the crap he has copped from fans and ex coaches.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

Re: Stephen Milne
If they picked the team on positions , he deserves to get in , but they always pick about 10 -12 midfielders , so i reckon he will miss out !
His worst stat is he's played in 16 finals for only 7 wins , a couple more wins than losses and we'd all be a hell of allot happier !

Very good point. It's disturbing how much influence Vlad and and his PR obsession have on these thingsdragit wrote:Pretty sure the 'homo' comments and subsequent publicity will rule him out.

I would really be surprised if Milne does not get another FP place.plugger66 wrote:May miss out this year to Rioli or Jetta but will be close. Dempster and Milne are our only chances I would think but i doubt any this year.
Milne has kicked goals at least every second week and won us a few games...similar to every other year.
Dempster probably will not get a gong.
Imagine him and Ted Richards in the same AA backline.

Riewoldt and Goddard to live up to their reputations ,Clarke and Ray to defy theirs in 2012!
