Margin Competition round 21 - versus Geelong
Well even after a hectic week on the scoreboard, the top of the table TheJeff (who has been top since the first week) STILL can't be beaten - but after a massive scoring week, there are plenty of people hot on his heels including one poster who up until this week was probably just hoping to break the top ten.
Score by score, let's review this week first.
Only one poster managed to correctly guess the margin of between 11 and 29 points (although the goal after the siren to bring it back from the 30-59 bracket cost 9 contestants points. james rose was the only person who gets on the scoreboard for category one - unfortunately he misses on the bonus by one lousy point after tipping 26 points - so close!
Five posters, including bakes, noddy04, Eastern, santazzi and matrix all scored three points for correctly guessing Milney to get the first goal (although matrix snuck in getting his vote in three minutes before the game started)
Five posters also managed to correctly guess Dal Santo to finish with most touches, bakes, SainterK, saintkellerm, santazzi and TheJeff all scoring the four points for that.
A whopping EIGHT posters correctly guessed the amount of goalkickers (8) for us including: bergholt, stevie, SainterK, saintkellerm, santazzi, sendmehomehappy, dragit and Rosco.
Though nobody correctly guessed either quarter time score, two posters got just one point off in each occasion.
For the St Kilda score, bergholt and MCG-Unit guessed St Kilda to be on four goals although missing the exact score of 4.2.26 narrowly. (MCG-Unit was one point off with 4.1.25)
In addition, bakes, Eastern, santazzi, felix and james rose all had the correct amount of behinds so also scored points.
For Melbourne's score, nobody guessed more than three goals and given the Dees were held goalless, there was a good chance for everyone... the closest though was santazzi with 0.2.2 just one point off the eventual score of 0.3.3. Five posters took two points each for guessing the amount of behinds: OneEyedSainter77, stevie, saintkellerm, sendmehomehappy and in a thrilling finish to the round to snatch back the lead by just one point, TheJeff.
So after the exciting round, the best performer was santazzi with a mammoth 16 points (the best of any round yet, perhaps thanks to the different scoring system) while also joining this poster in double figures was saintkellerm who jumped right back into contention. Amazingly, the 20 contestants this week filled 20 of the top 21 spots on the table as everyone in double digits tipped this week with the exception of Griggsy. Special mention has to also go to bakes and SainterK for scoring nine points each, in K's case, taking her to outright third and a real shot of the title, just three behind second placed dragit.
Also, interestingly, this round has seen for the first time ever a clear top ten with ten different scores. (in fact only two people in the entire top twenty share the same score!)
