Re: Peakey in trouble
Imagine having the ball thrown back at you -poor umpy. They should castrate Peake for his in-sub ordinance. How dare he, it's such a terrible outrage. What about the children, I hope he's ok now poor fellow. No wonder the game is so soft c**k these days, two players bump into each other and the commentators want them killed by firing squad, now if you return the ball to an umpire with a bit of force it's misconduct. FFS.

I agree lets just ping at them as hard as we can. Makes the game so much tougher. Has a Saints player done anything wrong ever in your opinion? And yes its really a soft game these days. It was so much tougher whn you could hit players like Gia did to Kosi or Plugger did every second week.

Re: Peakey in trouble
that is so weird that it is reported in the courier mail
maybe peakey is moving to the gold coast (for the surf not the footy team)?

Re: Peakey in trouble
The Courier mail kinda got it wrong when they reported that the game was at Frankston Park...

It's reported through the Herald sun But I don't pay and 'Courier mail'- along with 'Perth now' and 'Adelaide Now' don't have the digital lock
so melbourne based reporter got it wrong.

It was one hell of a throw if he threw it from Frankston park!

Re: Peakey in trouble
You did it every second week you old braggart? I'm not saying that everyone should hit each other but the hysteria when two players collide accidentally and rules that mean if someone is injured in a contest someone must pay are stupid soft c**k rules made by people with no grasp on the game. I'm glad players can play dirty but not stupid calls for punitive justice. throwing a ball with force back to an umpire free kick not fricken misconduct.plugger66 wrote:gringo wrote:Imagine having the ball thrown back at you -poor umpy. Re: Peakey in trouble
I hope after we delist him at the end of season that GC pick him
Up. He'd do well up there with the warm weather and good surfing much closer to home than it is in Melbourne.

Re: Peakey in trouble
Peake's career is over , so it will be no great loss , however i do agree that umpires are a bunch of softcocks . when you hear some of there comments on the effects mic's , many come across as the prissy type ! Watching old replays , you see umpires acting tough and authoritarian , but they also have a better raport with the players , they were much more consistent with their decisions ! and they were often bumped into by players , which resulted in no fines or suspensions ( Yes ! I know there's a couple of famous exceptions ) Nowdays if you lay a finger on them they cry rape !
Absolutely Stupid that the afl , a billion dollar industry , doesn't have professional umpires .

Peake was playing for Sandy in the VFL, where the umpires are not miked up and are paid bugger all.mr six o'clock wrote:Peake's career is over , so it will be no great loss , however i do agree that umpires are a bunch of softcocks . when you hear some of there comments on the effects mic's , many come across as the prissy type ! Re: Peakey in trouble
But the point is valid re umps in the AFL not getting paid enough and not being full time professionals.plugger66 wrote:Please BS no facts when people go off half cocked.Bernard Shakey wrote:Peake was playing for Sandy in the VFL, where the umpires are not miked up and are paid bugger all.mr six o'clock wrote:Peake's career is over , so it will be no great loss , however i do agree that umpires are a bunch of softcocks . when you hear some of there comments on the effects mic's , many come across as the prissy type ! Re: Peakey in trouble
I've worked with a current boundary umpire, and a former goal umpire, and trust me, "not getting paid enough" is not an issue.saintspremiers wrote:But the point is valid re umps in the AFL not getting paid enough and not being full time professionals.
Not being required to be full time is more the problem.
Anyway, stupid by Peake. Hopefully they only give him a week as a slap on the wrist, considering the seriousness of the offence in the grand scheme of things.

ST KILDA midfielder Brett Peake has escaped with a fine for throwing the ball at a field umpire.
Peake accepted a prescribed financial penalty offered by the VFL Tribunal for the misconduct charge.
The VFL does not release details of fines imposed on its players.
Peake was booked on the serious charge of misconduct after throwing the ball at a field umpire when playing for affiliate Sandringham.
Peake played on kicking out from a Dolphins behind but was deemed to have overstepped the goalsquare line.
He argued with the umpire before throwing the ball at him from about 10m away and was immediately reported on the same charge which infamously cost Chris Judd a four-week ban last month.
The out-of-contract midfielder tweeted shortly after the Frankston Park match: "Me and the whistle didn’t get along today."

Re: Peakey in trouble
Wow how f-ing weak is this game getting. Saturday night Milney was given a 50metre penalty for swearing at that arsewipe of a player Obrien and now peaky is fined for throwing a ball a little bit hard at a softcock umpire.....Give me a break!!!!!!!!
