Half time entertainment
No previous discussion on the half time entertainment?
For those who weren't at the game, from I can work out, CFC asked to write a song about their feelings for that club.
So the winner, best described as being out on day release, composed a song about the late Darren Millane .
Some of the lyrics I could hear were about "number 42 standing at the pearly gates" and finished up with lines from the club song so everyone could sing along
Am I missing something here, is this foul club still sponsored by the TAC? And if so this whyare my tax dollars going to a club who thinks it is a good look some some goose can sing an ode to someone who could have killed a few people along his drive up Kings Way into the back of that truck?
It was embarassing and it was making plenty of Saints people just stand there and cringe. Not sure the CFC filth felt any embarassment. Which says a lot.

Re: Half time entertainment
Obnoxious bogon tattooed moron pathetically singing reverendly about a drunken pisshead who could easily have killed innocent people.
I know it was Collingwood's home game but aren't there controls over what we are subjected to?
Because that was total appaulling CR@P

Their home game. Good luck to them. We should try and make our games feel more like home games.

Re: Half time entertainment
Their home game? correct but really it was sub-standard "entertainment" that would have been loved by one half of the crowd and loathed by the other side of the crowd.
It was a pathetic song by a pathetic person which appealed to the LCD.
I just cringed to think someone at an official level approved this crap. An homage to a drunk who killed himself and was lucky not to kill other people whilst at the same time they recieve TAC funding to try and lesen the road toll. I hope the TAC send a strongly worded letter expressing its displeasure.

Re: Half time entertainment
Funniest part was when he tried to get the Collingwood chant going at the end. What a massive fail. It really showed how interested the crowd were. The usual participants must of been either outside having a smoke or getting their half time fill of beer.

Re: Half time entertainment
Yes it was pathetic. But labelling him as a pathetic person is pretty average, considering you probably have never met the bloke before in your life. As footy supporters we always seem to find the good in the players we support each week. Plenty of Kangas supporters would have lauded the Duck right up until he left. Regardless of a criminal record of indecent assault which he received whilst still playing for them.ozrulestrace wrote:It was a pathetic song by a pathetic person which appealed to the LCD.
The irony was that he lost many of them for doing something completely legal, and probably happens every day of the week. His biggest mistake was because it was with ANOTHER Kangas players' wife. If it was against a committee person's wife they couldn't have cared less. If it was against his best mate's wife who didn't play footy with North Melbourne they still probably couldn't have cared less, and many would have tried to defend him. We're a funny bunch, footy supporters.
As for half the crowd loving the entertainment I beg to differ. He may as well have been playing to an empty stadium. Barely caused a ripple, and I could hardly even hear polite applause at the end of it.

Re: Half time entertainment
Anyone getting behind the wheel when they were that toxic is pretty dreadful, but DM was a pretty good player who -unlike so many of our good players - got himself a premiership medallion. I for one am not going to scoff at the Pies fans giving him a tribute.
It's not as if our boys have always been purer than the driven snow in terms of drink driving. Poor old DM didn't end up hurting anyone other than himself and his family and friends. RIP, I say. And John 8:7.

Re: Half time entertainment
Thank goodness there was only one verse.
And the strangled cry of "Colin-Wood, Coooolllllin-Wood, Collllllliinnnnnn Wood" at the end was awful.
Whoever this Colin Wood guy is, the two of them should go on a date or move in together.
PS. Anyone notice that at 3/4 time Cameron Ling did not go near either huddle, and didn't appear
to talk with anyone except his camera crew. Yet I bet he delivered a wrap on what the coaches'
messages to the players had been. How would he know?

Re: Half time entertainment
Was at the game. Was in disbelief at the shite 'entertainment' served up.
It drew cries from our area such as:
'Get a haircut!'
'Eh mate...that beard is painted on!'
'I thought you were on day release...they're closing soon...back to H.M. Barwon for you!'
and best of all : 'Bring back Meatloaf!'
Thought the guy's voice wasn't too bad at the start, but he lost a bit of confidence probably due to the total lack of response from the crowd. And when he started singing about Millane at the pearly gates, that was just embarrassing.
He ended woefully...it was really rubbish...tried to get the Colling-wood chant going and failed miserably.
Pathetic crap.

I would have preferred the peanut man going around selling "Peanuts" as in days gone by, or the Hyde Street band marching past with the blanket held for coins to be tossed in.bergholt wrote:wow, this thread is not massively attractive, is it? a lot of of bitter bitching and moaning.
Anything than this.
Let's not treat the average footballer follower as some lightweight thinker who needs to be "entertained" with that rubbish.
It's sad that this man still needs to sing about the late Darren Millane twenty years on, but for me it was the moral issue of how can they think of continuing the martyrdom of someone who came to an untinely end through his own actions? That does not make him a saint-if you pardon the pun.

Re: Half time entertainment
Absolutely. Listen punters, whatever you think of the entertainment, any effort that clubs make to make attending a live game more attractive should be applauded, and I would urge St Kilda FC to start making a bloody effort in that regard or we'll end up like Fitzroy.plugger66 wrote:Their home game. It's not enough that the players are already excluding women with weight issues.
Saints need to work heavily in this area, at the moment, we've got bags of culture and we're not capitalizing on it. What about if just one or two of you whingers out there, next time you're at a game, did something designed to entertain other Saints supporters.
Or just have a go at a club that knows how to market itself to its supporters like the gutless tall poppy loppers you are.

Yes let's have bogans singing to the crowd at half time every week at Etihad!!!

Re: Half time entertainment
Remember the days at Moorabbin during half time when they used to walk a blanket around the ground held out at each corner so punters in the crowd could throw coins into it. They should bring that back.

Re: Half time entertainment
I actually thought it was funny. I enjoyed that part of the entertainment. The look on the young girls face was hilarious. Geez lighten up - it was a bit of fun. The whole thing is. Yes the pie supporter singing was a bad idea, but we sound like a bunch of politicians - because it was Collingwood, regardless of what they did, we would think it suckedSaints43 wrote:When they focused in on the middle-aged man and the little girl...mcadam05 wrote:what about the kiss cam or what ever the hell that was , Now that was some sort of creepy
