Is it over now?

Post: # 1247207Post SainterK »

Honest question.

I'm not sure.

Results didn't favour us this weekend.

I'd love to feel that second half effort sees the Saints somehow make it, because kids like Simpkin, Geary, Steven, Armitage would be served so well to play some more finals.

Have to keep on keeping on until it is no longer possible, just because that's how you build culture with the kids, show them that you won't die wondering.

I suppose we thought that in 2007-2008. A lot tougher now.

I still think we'll make it if we can beat Geelong and Carlton… that being said, winning 4 in a row is hard for a side that struggles to win 2 in a row.

It isn't over, but we need to win them all now.

About 25% chance of making the finals from
Here.

The Geelong match should be fun to watch. Nice we have a bye game next week.

The fact is looking at the draw a couple weeks ago, we were thinking that Sydney and Collingwood were the games we could lose and still make finals. Sure it hurts, because we really could have won both, but the fact is, it was always going to come down to the Carlton and Geelong games. Win those and we make finals, otherwise we miss. At least the Collingwood and Sydney games showed that we contest with the best even though we ultimately feel short.

If Essendon win tomorrow, NO CHANCE.

If Essendon lose tomorrow, probably no chance.

In a word, its over.

Just take it one week at a time, just keep trying to win and for god's sake, have some balls Watters. Milne should have been dragged after giving that fifty away, don't care how soft it was. There was no need for what he said.

It's been an unusual season for the saints, played some very attractive footy but seem to be 2 goals short of being a premireship contender. Hence the 4 games lost under 10 points and the competitiveness in nearly every game!

Positives are we have unearthed a great batch of kids and future looking so much brighter under watters than it did September last year.

Reckon this is a transition year game plan wise and I still think we are a show for 1 last tilt with the current core of senior players.

Dare I asked what he said?

Actually, cancel that.

I heard the umpire say no need for the language.

Just tell me he didn't go 'there' did he? :(

Milne swore - that was it.

The umpire's was a feckhead and should be hauled over the coals for that pathetic decision but then.....theyre all pathetic so what does it matter?

Yes its over.

He said something along the lines of "what are you going to do? You f**kwit?"
That was repeated a few times and was clearly directed at Harry O.
Precious umpire decided that a 50m penalty was in order for that.

Yeah? So where was Siposs or Ledger or Newnes. Instead we get Polo in the side. Another dud like Clarke.

I thought it was "What are you doing with it you f***wit?"

lol, SainterK actually asking what was said. Bless you, dear. :)

Of course being Milney, I assumed he may have thrown a racial taunt in there somewhere which is why Harry O made a little hissy fit.

Almost.

Dons likely to drop out. So it is who comes in Freo have the front running, but play North and Crows. One of North or freo has to lose unless they draw. So if North lose to Pies they could drop out.

If we win every game we can make it. But Cats in good form at present.
So there are a lot of IFS.

Though these two teams do play one another. So if either loses another game, and given their opponents that can well happen with both we have an in if we win 4 straight. But we have not done that all year.

You can see where I'm coming from though.

The kids at the club need to see that until it's over, effort is paramount.

Footy showed tonight that sometimes it's down to pure luck, guesswork, bias.

Something may fall back our way.

I agree.

I hope we still treat every match this year as though we can still make finals until it is mathematically impossible.... I'd like to see the newer generation develop a winning mentality.

If we can win three more this eaer, we finish the season with more wins than losses - I believe that makes it for ten years in a row.

From my recently completed ladder predictor (about 3 mins ago), if we win all 4 we make finals, if we win 3 we need Freo to lose 3 of their games against Adelaide(A), Melbourne(H), North(A), Rich(H), if we win 2, I'm changing teams to GWS.

It ain't over by a long shot. North is due to go missing in action again and so are Freo. Mind you, I hope in the next 4 games we are only playing one opposition team and not 2 on the same day. Makes it hard to win when the umps are against you as well. Their display tonight was PITIFUL! Go down to AFL house and get 'em this week Scotty!!!!!!!
