Tommy Walsh?
Just noticed he's really out of favour with Sydney. Not even an emergency.
Do we want him back?
Maybe pick 70 ish??

Re: Tommy Walsh?
With his strong Gaelic football background and a mature body, I always thought that he had potential, but it seems not. However, Sydney is a top side, which makes it hard to break in to. Watters offered realistic opportunities, but Tommy said that he had a better offer elsewhere. In those circumstance, no thanks, let him stay there.

He may simply not be up to it.Junction Oval wrote:With his strong Gaelic football background and a mature body, I always thought that he had potential, but it seems not. But also, his desire to get to a city with a greater number of fellow Irishman may have in fact worked against his development.
Of course I can't be sure, to be sure.

Re: Tommy Walsh?
Not a chance that I'd have the prick back Overated at best! Saw him playing with Sandy and could not understand all the hype about him then, even less so now!
St Kilda forever ( God help me)
Re: Tommy Walsh?
Its beginning to appear we got that trade absolutely right
With the improvement in Stanley and Siposs he'd have been struggling for a game if he'd stayed I think....unless he was thrown into defence

Yep. And I threw in pick 70. He may not even be worth that. From the trading perspective alone it looks a winner for us.saint66au wrote:Its beginning to appear we got that trade absolutely right

Re: Tommy Walsh?
I never understood why we all believed he would be so good. He was an ok player at sandy but never amazing. We just wanted someone to be a bolter so bad we willed it on him.

And just think for some internet hero's here Ross lyon was an absolute idiot for not playing him
We all know if we had of played him in the 09 and 10 GF's we would have won both.
Ask skeptic, he will swear its the truth and undeniable fact.
Lance or James??

why not make up things when you can't win an argument eh JB
have to admit, you've been consistent with your bull$h!t on this one
remarkable how you continue to get on your high horse about a point no one ever made... still, guess it's easier for you then acknowledging that maybe if both the players played better and the coach coached better rather than one or the other we may have done better in 09

But JB we had Robert Eddy. He should've won us a flag surely?

Re: Tommy Walsh?
I'm just glad yet another dud draft decision (remember the saints line about him being equivalent to a first round pick - to water down critism of the Ball-Lovett fiasco) has actually turned out okay for us. Looks like those of us that watched him at sandy were right - and the hype was just that.

Re: Tommy Walsh?
You really are contradicting yourself. On one hand, you say that even if our finishing was better, the outcome would still have been uncertain but you then say other team selections may have have made a difference to the result. Sounds like you are having an ideological dilemma.skeptic wrote:joffaboy wrote:Right here.

You really are stating the obvious with your last point. Of course coaches and players have regrets after a loss. While that is normal, your hubris is nauseating.

Re: Tommy Walsh?
We look to being a winner with both deals.stkildathunda wrote:Daniel Markworth and Beau Wilkes. For Tommy Lynch we got Jack NewnesSainterK wrote:Who'd we get, Markworth and Dunell or something?
* Newnes from what have seen could well play many games over a number of years. = possible big win for us.
* Beau is only a back-up player....but that was all that Lynch was showing promise to be. If Marworth can develop further rom the promise he has shown that would then tip the balance in our favour on that deal.
On Lyon, IMO he gets a bad wrap for playing "young" talent that our recruiters basically do not have. The first year that Lyon gained some good raw young talent they were played. The good young talent ( Ben, Geary, Steven, Armo all ot games too).
It is not just Watters as to why we are seeing more young talent played. It is that Pelchen and the new recruiters are doing a better job at getting young talent (including the last trade period that Lyon was at the Club).
