If that really is a draw card, then I think we should focus on Hurley instead of Salopek.
Or (on theme) John Butcher

Or Jonathon Patton

Or.......

Butcher would be a great one to target as he has dropped off the radar a bit but would still have a mass of improvement left. No a bad joke idea. Johnny Patton will have a two year contract already but he can bring Mohr and that other forward with him.
Butcher is contracted till the end of next year…

Well the Salopek move is definitely on the cards. Just heard he has been approached by Saints, Roos and Suns.
Chaplin I have only heard loose rumors.

Better than the same old talk about BJ though

5 years Salopek was an up and coming gun

today he seems to be a never was...

i'm sure we'd get him cheap but given that he is reportedly quite slow with average skills... well where would he fit?

If we go for Salopek then we are going backwards. Waters and Pelchin aren't stupid.

Wouldn't surprie me at all to find out we were making sure as a club that we are publicly linked to certain players as a smoke screen while they actually try and secure someone else in the background.

Sorry, but I don't see what appeal Salopek has to us. Chaplin I can understand.

Prefer Charlie to Troy

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Could teach one or two about relationships with 16 y.o.'s though. :D

I don't think getting salopek would be too bad, only if costs us nothing.

He can add depth and will fill a void untill developing mids are ready.

At his best a few years ago he was potentially going to be a good player. A change of scenery may help him and us.

How can you argue with logic like that? Roughly how many players on AFL lists (of maybe 800+ players) have come from State Leagues as mature age recruits, overlooked in drafts, delisted from AFL clubs, and from the footy scrap heap - then made a reasonable success of another chance?

Without making a list, I reckon there would be a swag of names. I would give Salopek another chance in a heartbeat, esp if he is delisted.

Someone was near the money.

Salopek could not get a game for Glenelg, playing for the Seconds.

So he sought a transfer to Port Adelaide and last Friday night at The Parade hardly touched the pill.

Anyway the saints have called him and the word from Salopek himself was, "the saints are very interested" I can only interpret from that that the Saints are interetsted in him, would I be wrong with that interpretation plugger?

For what its worth im not sure where he would fit in but in Pelchin I trust.

Where did you hear that?

andrewg wrote:Playing in the twos or port I'm not sure hs currency will be to high, probably pay him what we pay Peak. He was pick 6 in the draft?
you're seriously harking back 10 years to the 2002 draft to suggest that because he was pick 6 he must be a good player? tim walsh was pick 4 in that draft, maybe we should pick him up. probably get him and luke brennan (pick 8) for a couple of slabs a game.

i wouldn't take salopek at this point. we don't really need more slowish small defenders which is about all he is, as far as i've seen.

check out this list of big guys at port, though:

jarrad redden, 22yo, 205cm 103kg, 7 games this year
mitch curnow, 20yo, 201cm 84kg, rookie
daniel stewart, 24yo, 200cm 93kg, 10 games this year
brent renouf, 24yo, 200cm 98kg, 10 games this year
matthew lobbe, 24yo, 200cm 98kg, 5 games this year
justin westhoff, 26yo, 199cm 93kg, 17 games this year
daniel webb, 23yo, 197cm 92kg,
jackson trengove, 22yo, 197cm 97kg, 15 games this year
cameron o'shea, 20yo, 197cm 84kg, 4 games this year
john butcher, 21yo, 197cm 90kg, 8 games this year
troy chaplin, 27yo, 195cm 100kg, 17 games this year

what are they doing, hoarding young talls? ten players on their list at 197 or taller! we've only got four. and they're all 24 or under except westhoff!

do they really need renouf, lobbe and redden, as well as westhoff, stewart and the two rookies? surely we can convince one of these guys that they won't get opportunities over there, all the ruckmen have shown something.
